How The Heck Can I Get LAMH to work?

So I got the LAMH viewer, and some presets... I CANNOT get them to work. I was able to get a female hair to render after exporting as an object, but it vanishes when I reload the scene. None of the other presets render. Very frustrating, as I got the Genesis Gorilla morph specifically because I wanted to give it hair so it can replace the King Kong I made from the old Daz Gorilla. Anybody have any advice?

You need to deparent the hair OBJ from the LAMH group after creating it or yeah it vanishes.

Weird. Now here's a question: Looking at the thread th first commenter suggested, I get the impression that I HAVE to export it to object anytime I repose? Is that right? And it'll only render when I export to obj? If so, I'm not thrilled.

Yes, completely true. Although if you're using one of AM's Iray Catalyzer products, it makes the whole LAMH experience a ton easier-- no export to OBJ and you can repose the critter.

Honestly, although I purchased LAMH full I almost NEVER used it and when I did it was rarely in IRAY, exactly because of the experience you're having. But the Catalyzer, while a bit crashy, makes stuff a ton easier.

I bough that product too, tested it once or twice and then I gave up on it. Too much work too less fun

If you have the full plugin export to fiber; it's way less memory.

Yeah... sounds like a waste of time. Sadly. I REALLY wanted to use it, but that is a giant pain in the butt. Had it for months now, though, so I'm sure I can't get my money back. :(

  • Just checking... since the Gorilla and other items with LAMH presets came with 3Delight materials presets, does 3Delight not work for you because you are using other items with iray presets and want to use those?

The thread jumped to advice on how to render in iray, but you hadn't mentioned that in your first post. Just wanted to make sure iray was the issue and not something else.

LAMH does stuff nothing else will do, so from my perspective it's use LAMH or just don't have realistic fur

I hadn't understood that it has to be exported as an object and then rendered. Kinda not conducive for my purposes.

I dunno. If I didn't have to export it as an obj every time I reposed, maybe. But that would be a real pain for using in the stuff I do.

Sure. But what else are you going to do?

  • It doesn't have to be exported as an OBJ and imported.  Do not generate the FiberHair until right before render.  The FULL version's FiberHair export will put the generated hairs DIRECTLY on the model in the DS Viewport.

Ah, yeah! Ya know, I FORGOT I hadn't bought the full version! I got the free trail version!! (smacks forehead) 'DOH! Well, guess I'll eventually have to try the full version.
