This year's PA sale vs prior years

This is my first PA sale after being a member for the last 3.5 months... and the forum posts about it seemed to imply that it was a month of great deals that were worth saving up for.

Am i missing something? Seems the sales were much better before this started... Is it normal for it to be starting so slow?

Also, what's up with the banner being updated 30-60 minutes before the page is... leaving you refreshing for nearly an hour...  only to deliver dissapointment.

IIRC it does tend to start a bit slow and works it's way up, but I will agree that so far it seems a bit "underwhelming" ;). It's only been a few days tho, so I have an open mind.

I actually don't know whether I should be glad of that or not.  On one hand, my wallet rejoices that there's really not very much interesting new (or even old that I don't already own) items out there, on another, I am a bit disappointed with the "new" release items that have been rolled out.  Nothing has really grabbed my attention, other than Rogue Element outfit and arsenal props.

The main advantage of the PA sale is the price of new items, it is rare during times outside of the main sale months that new items are offered at 50-55% off.

For discounts on older stuff, you are correct, that the sales are nothing too out of the ordinary compared to "normal" periods, although the Mega Fast Grab stuff can drop down to 80% or so for some DO items. However, every now and then, crazy deals could pop-up during this sale, so it is worth being patient and watch the offers each day.

  • think the same comments been said each year and like Havos said every now and again crazy deals pop up probably even thank you type deals with extra bonus discounts for buying other items early in sale ot promising anything though

  • I thinks not so good, until I discovered the fine print 75% off the Mega Fast Grab...with a purchase.

It was also hard to find the EXACT link to it.

It's at the bottom of this page and the vendors had (I bought them) some really choice items.

I'll be watching this area over the course of the month.

I'm finding it diappointing so far, but part of that is because the new stuff is all G8-centric and I'm intentionally throttling back my purchase of add-ons for the new figures until I've used my similar products for the G2s and G3s, many of which have been barely or never touched.  And as for the older artist catalog items... well, I'm just about to pass the "9,000 DAZ products in my runtimes" milestone, so a huge chunk of what's on sale are items that I've passed over repeatedly in the past when the sale prices were much more heavily discounted.

And even so, I've already spent well over a hundred dollars since August 31.  So, I'm guessing it's not the product that isn't there, just the general excitement level.

The rules change each time. This year is pretty straightforward, but you always have to read the fine print, because there are usually additional bargains that aren't immediately obvious.

But yeah. Some of these artists' stores only go on sale during the PA festival.

  • It depends on what you like. I think the offers so far are pretty great.

I've been able to spend a LOT of money so far, and it's barely started. Then again, I got a centaur bundle for over 75% off.

And, as JOdel said, some things go on sale ONLY now. And, like last year, I blew my budget before I could get something that I really want from such an artist. I hope that there will be a catch up in a week and a half. Otherwise I doubt I'm going to wait another year to buy those products but I'll kick myself for not getting them on sale.

Yeah, if we dont make a release then the only time our stuff will go on sale is big sales like these.

  • There has also "typically" been a "catch up sale" of some sort, when all featured items go on sale a second time. AND there are "typically" periods of time when EVERY PA store catalog goes on sale, which is great opprotunity to pick up deals on those vendors who don't have frequent releases, so they don't get featured as often, as has already been pointed out. I've done some wishlist clearing on those occasions.

@mattymanx  @destinysgarden    We appreciate all of you for participating-year round!

And I think the variety has been fun so far, and  I like the three different sections. The Mega Fastgrab is really nice.

It used to be that the PA sale ,March Madness and the PC sale were the 3 events of the year.... And the customers would get guess what? 30% to 40% off of artists catalogs, and this was a big deal then. Nowadays 50 to 60% off is considered the norm year round, so yes, these sales have no real meaning as sales. Just tradition of years gone by.

The megafastgrab is pretty good, especially when they have DAZ originals and you are a PC+ member.

  • I think this is the best sale so far. Usually they have stacking discounts, so in order to qualify for the good stuff you have to buy something new every day for 5 days or something silly like that.

This time with the mega fast grabs you can get some amazing offers- daz originals that get into the mid 80% offs. Even though you have to add a new item to qualify, you can buy the cheapest item, split the price up among everything in your cart and still get them for a better price than the usual 70% off fast grabs. Last night I got an average of 77% off everything. That doesn't normally happen

  • I have purchased one or two items at 65% off from the mega fast grab category. That is all.

Thanks for this @avxp.  Never even saw this section.  Got the Valkyries Bundle (https://www.daz3d.com/valkyries-bundle-by-road-of-heroes ) which has been on my wishlist forever.  Picked it up for $13.94.

  • LOoks like a big win.

Don't forget that if you're a PC+ member, the NEW PC+ club additions count as NEW ITEMS and sometimes trigger additional discounts.

    https://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-items

So it makes sense to always stay on top of these. Sometimes I hold back from getting them all at once- just in case I need them as a NEW item qualifier.

    So for today this deal

    https://www.daz3d.com/annual-premier-artist-sale-2017

    says: Debut New Releases

Buy any combination of items from Debut New ReleasesStill New ReleasesDaily Spotlight, or Featured Artist Catalogs to get:
40% OFF for 1 OR 50% OFF* for 2 or more

The new PC+ releases count as NEW.(Always good for those "buy two or more...")

    I don't know what happened

My bank account is empty and I've only got $20 left on my credit card...

Looks like my Daz spending is going to have to go on hold until I get that fixed :O

I have to say, my memories of last year's PC+ sale really eclipsed the PA sale. I did get very, very used to the extra discounts by the time mid-November rolled around, but even now I have this Special Fund I've been saving up for the PC+ sale. At this point, I'm wondering if my memories of it are exaggerated. But I seem to recall it was pure delight for a limited budget.

Ohhhhh....you overspent. LOL. I thought you meant your accounts were compromised (eek....I know how that feels - like the bottom just dropped out) o.O

Yeah, I'm an expert at overspending. Did have my account comprimized once, but I never leave much money in there. As soon as payday hits, I pay all the bills due before the next payday, save about $30 for gas and $30 for Daz stuff and the rest goes into another account.

But then I got the credit card so when my daz money runs out, I tend to use that, then pay on it later....

My recollection of PA sale last year was that it was very much a 2nd PC sale instead. Really didnt feel it at all. Hopefully this year is different, but I havent personally bought a thing yet XD We will see.

That's what I thought. I was scared for them for a while there. And glad it was just a case of over spending and not a compromised account.
