Saiyaness?

When is Saiyaness coming out with a new figure for G8?  Benita was gorgeous, but I just looked at my Characters for G3 and most of 'em are Saiyaness!  I want more!

It's only been a little over of a month since Benita came out, I believe. So, be patient. I'm sure it's really time-consuming to create a character. From the face and body morph, to the textures (which can take AGES to make), to creating all the material presets, to rendering out all the icons for the settings and for creating promo images - then packaging all that up properly in their proper file hierarchies. Then submitting it to Daz and it going through quality control. Then it goes to the art department and then I think marketing has to set up a release time. All that is pretty time-consuming. Some of the PAs turn out characters pretty quickly - but many of those that turn out a lot of characters fairly quickly are part of a PA a team where the work load is shared. Saiyaness probably creates those beautiful characters alone.

A lot more time and work goes into creating and releasing characters than many people realize.

  • Sorry, I had no idea. I just wish I could convert all my Saiyaness G3 figures to G8, I use them so much!

You can. Redz made a tutorial on how to transfer G3 figures to G8: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2532336/#Comment_2532336

The link where you can download the tutorial is in that comment. Or here is a direct link to where you can download the tutorial: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x2vcwnfu7w2wtj9/G8 Morph TransfersR1.zip?dl=0

You can. Try the Singular Blues script. I've done Nyarai and Ceridwen. You can use the G3 skins on G8, too, you know.

If you have Imari, you don't have to do anything at all to use her with G8. She's all head and body morphs, and they all have the same names with G8. As long as you have the G8F head and body morphs, the Shape preset will apply her shape to G8, and the Base Female UV is the same for both G3 and G8, so her texture will work just fine.

  • I haven't popped into the forums much lately, but I'm glad I did today! :)

I've been a little unproductive lately. I've had some real-life distractions and changes that have distracted me away from Daz. I'm back in the game and mindset now though! :)

I'm always faffing about with a skin, but sometimes I'll ditch them and start something new and that drags out time between releases.

Sometimes I'll finish a character and then decide I want to change something, or add vellus hairs, or scars, or whatever and that can set me back a while while I faf about and spin around in my chair and go and play Fallout instead, errr, I mean....

Sometimes us "creative" types get a little uninspired and disenchanted and fall out (pun unintended but I'll take it) of a hobby for a while. I loooooove making skins. LOVE! But sometimes the creative joy isn't there for the rest of it. :)

In regards to updating characters, I'm redoing Mahala for Genesis 8 Female, after I finish a dude I'm doing right now for Genesis 8 Male. After that, who knows!

    Thanks all!

I certainly can't speak to the business side for you, but I would be happy to buy skins or a skin pack from you. Given that G8 is only using a single UV, G8 skin packs would seem to be more viable.

    Saiyaness, our princess.

  • I can imagine the modeling would be rough, if you're heart is into the texturing. Obviously you are a consumate artist at both, but its understandable. I love to cook, just not every day : P

  • I think we all have times where we just aren't feeling it. And taking a break to play (the hundred or so rpg games I own....) to play a bit is actually healthy.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

You and I have the opposite problem. lol I LOVE making morphs, makeup, etc, but when it comes to making skins - it's just ...argh. It's definitely my least favorite part.

  • I like that you know your are going to get a high quality character with Sayiness.

I can't describe how happy reading that sentence made me! I was looking at ways to move her over, and it just looked like a lot of work. I'm glad to hear that you'll be doing that, and a G8M character!

Omg!! Please any info on the Gen 8 male??

Have you ever thought of just doing a skin pack? Maybe a few bits that never made the cut as far as complete characters? I would LOVE that as I create my own morphs with your beautiful skins.

+1 I think selling just skins might work. With the morph packs and many people even making their own morphs - skins by themselves might be a decent seller. :)

I know I'd definitely be interested in some good skin packs.  There are quite a few G3 models I purchased specifically for their skins.  And wow that sounds creepy and morbid out of context.

Way off-topic, but I've said more than once that this particular hobby, if you catch the right people on the right days, makes us all sound like a bunch of particularly peculiar serial killers. "Oh, I don't like those eyes. Let's put in the brown ones instead ... no, those don't work either. Maybe take off that skin and try this other one ... Oh, no, look, it's got a seam up the back..."

Or doctors... "I don't like the way that leg bends. Let's go in and look at the bones..."

  • I've had people give me side-eye when I mention "rendering her with a different skin."
