Do you use the Daz Install Manger (DIM)? If so they will show up there.

  • Not really. I was looking at the page that shows all my past purchases. Is the DIM the only way to find updates? I've only ever used it to download studio beta and I had a bad experience.

  • The only way to be notified of product updates is either to use DIM (DAZ Install Manager) or to install through DAZ Connect.

So far as I'm aware, there are only 4 ways to receive notice of Updates. 1) its posted in the forums somewhere.  The PC+, for example, has a dedicated thread for when older products are updated for Iray or the like (not entirely positive on what's announced there, as I rarely read it.)  2) an update shows up in DIM.  3) An update shows up on the Update tab of Smart Content *and* you installed the original via Connect.  4) go look at the readme pages for the product you're curious about.

Since the advent of DIM, posting updates in the forums has become less and less frequent.

Now, I've found that DIM, for me, is not the best way to install DS itself, but it does work very well for DS content.  I initially reinstalled everything via DIM (then later most of it via Connect) primarily because of the ease of updates.  (that and it allowed me to do some reorganizing and to not install things that I didn't use any more.)

  • Dim says I have 421 products ready to download. Daz beta shows up as a product update, but nothing else does. I don't want to have to install all of these products with dim just to find out they have been updated. These products are already installed on my computer.

The thing that started this was that I saw Micheal 8 out and I assumed that the male starter pack would be in my downloads. I assumed it would be the sorted to the top of the list, but it wasn't because it was an update to a different product. So now I wonder how many buggy products were fixed over the years and I just never got the update.

A different site I use emails their customers when a product they own is updated.

Can someone please tell me a simple quick way to find out if a product I purchased has been updated.

In my expereince here, if you don't have the product installed because of a problem with it, there isn't going to be a way to know without checking the readme if it's been updated. They seem to assume that everyone at least downloads the files and stores them locally so there is a way to use DIM to find out about it. I see no reason to keep stuff on my local drive if I'm not using it, though that is likely to change now that I have a decent sized hard drive to store them on. And, I remember DAZ having the G3 Male as a separate package separate from G3 Female when it came out, but it seems they changed that this time around.

If you don't have a cap or slow download speeds, you can download the DIM files (or if you downloaded them from your Product Library and kept the zips, you can put them in your DIM downloads folder and not have to re-download them).  Then you can either:

1 - leave the zips in the Downloads folder, or

2 - install with DIM to a dummy location, and then erase the installed files, then you can delete the zips and DIM will know what version it installed.

Then you just launch DIM periodically to see if there are updates.  Even if you don't want to use DIM to install, you can use it to download the zips -- they're the same as the zios you download from your Product Library, and you can download everything at once instread of having to go to each product page in your Product Library.

They are already installed that's the point. I don't want to reinstall through DIM.

  • Thank you Fixmypcmike I will try copying my archives over and see how that goes. And download new stuff through dim in the future.

  • I got the weird thing where some keep the Install Update Icon, but won't update.

I submitted a ticket- installed/reinstalled/deleted cloud files etc, but increasingly more and more products are ticked for updates that won't update.

    I'm up to about 5 now..maybe more...
