Trying to find out if I can sell retextures for DAZ clothing

I really like applying new textures to Daz clothing, I'd love to sell my retextures. How do I find out if this is approved or OK to do? I have seen some on other sites, so am assuming this is a common "thing"?

Aye.    It is why there are templates provided to enable people to make their own textures.

Edited to add that most people will try giving away some free textures to start with, to see if people like what they are doing

Choholes space is full of free textures

  • Cool, thanks. I was trying to find some sort of guidelines on the site but couldn't. I didn't know if it was ok to actually sell something based on a base clothing set..

Yes it is completely ok. However DAZ doesn't take that many of them. It would have to be really compelling or have tons of different textures for them to accept it from what I've seen in the past. And another thing, they're more likely to take for clothes that had killer sales rather than for clothes that sold poorly.

I'd read this before and never really understood it. Probably half the clothes models I've purchased here at DAZ, I bought because of a texture set on the other site made the meh* outfit I saw here, look great. I guess DAZ has a reason for limiting options for outfits but I don't know what it is.

*When I say 'meh' I'm not insulting the actual modeling, just the texture options that don't inspire me to go "I need that!"

I klnow exactly what you mean.   I have always been proud of the fact that I looked at the PoTS dress and saw something else in it other than an Egyptian outfit.  I had been cursin the fact that at that time there wasn't an MFD for V4 and I suddenly took a good look at the PoTS dress.  It was those first sets of textures for the outfit which really started my acceptance on the Daz Site as a texture artist.

I also agree with Faveral,  Textures are difficult to sell,  but very easy to give away.  I think I have made more money from my freebies, with the shareCG money that used to be available, plus my PayPal donate button than I did selling stuff at the other site.  In fact I don't think,  I know I have made more  money that way.

I am just the opposite, I rarely purchase addon texture sets. Mainly because I can make them myself if needed.

to the OP, keep in mind that your textures need to be done with the template and not over existing textures. Seen this happen in the past.

This. Also I've never seen them accept any textures for older gen clothes (unless it's a staple like the Morphing Fantasy dress - come to think of it I've not seen any good new textures for that released in quite some time). The only textures I've seen released are for newer outfits. And I rarely see a texture set in the store for an outfit older than 6 months.

The "other place" though doesn't seam to have that restriction on time.
