I woke up this morning and headed to McDonald's for breakfast, because I am a health nut.
I'm in upstate New York. It's September 1st. There was ice on my windshield. ICE.on.my.windshield.

Actually, it could be. IIRC, as the global average temperature rises, certain weather-affecting patterns will break down, causing some areas to experience devastatingly cold winters. I believe supposedly there is a current in the Atlantic acting as a conveyor belt that brings warmth to Britain via the ocean, and models predict rising temperatures will make it stop, thus causing Britain's winters to be colder and longer.
The term "Global Warming" is so last decade.
The more accurate term is "Climate Change". Ask anybody in Houston this week.
September frosts are not unprecedented or unusual in the long term. Nasty hurricanes are not unprecedented or unusual in the long term. The up-'til-now long hiatus in nasty hurricanes hitting the US is not unprecedented or unusual in the long term.
I once lived somewhere that had a snowstorm in June. Unusual weather events have always happened and will continue to happen. Its just the way it is. The climate does change over time. Thats normal
We had a weird atmospheric thing going on today with wide, arching "ice circles?" around the sun in the clouds. Sort of rainbow-ish. Very strange ;)

Indeed; what is unusual is the ability of people thousands of miles away to be aware of the occurrence of the weather phenomenon and the severity of it.
TBH, I don't get worried when I see "weird" weather. My grandmother told me about SOOO many freak weather instances when she was a child that I've come to realize that "freak" weather is just a part of living on this beautiful planet of ours :). There was the Medieval Warming Period - definitely freakish (they were growing grapes and making wine in England that rivaled the French wines of today). The 18th and 19th centuries had their "Little Ice Age" (I supposed caused when Krakatoa blew its stack or even something previous - it certainly didn't help things, because it lasted for a hundred to two hundred years). The year of or the yeear after Mt. Pinatubo blew, we had nearly two weeks where the temps never broke 70F in the middle of July here in Pennsylvania (normally high 80s to 90sF). :)

My sister lives in Houston and the water came up to 1/2 a ft under the entry way to the house. Her lawn furniture, not so lucky, LOL
I've had iced windscreens for the past three months, it's only now it's easing up. As for McDonalds for breakfast? Nearest is 120km (75 miles) away - fortunately, I dislike their food.
I'd cut way down, but...pretty sure I'd still go about once a month. Wow, I have got to get a life.
I want the snow to come earlier. I hate September wasps :(
75 miles? Where do you live, McMurdo Station? I don't think I can go more than about 3 blocks without hitting one around here

Could be the global warming. Here in Germany, we got much less rain so far, and they predict colder winters with less snow. On the other hand, there are more massive local downpours with local floodings than there used to be.
...or here in Portland OR where its back up in the 90s again with forecase highs this weekend in the triple digits. It's been so bone dry we've been under a red flag fire warning most of the summer ( yeah, in what is normally supposed the be the rainy cool Pacrific Northwest).
...the liittle town I lived in in the State of Baden-Württemberg (not far from the Rhine) when I was a student there back in the 70s has been experiencing highs in the 90s this last month.
Well, temperatures have been a constant up and down here recently. We went from 34°C two days ago to 13°C at the moment (and highest temperature expected for today is only 17°). Of course, on the large scale, what we are experiencing nowadays is still within the limits, and nature did survive more drastic changes, like throwing asteroids on the planet's surface.
Might be within natural limits still. But climate seems to have something like a tipping point. If reached, the following changes are drastic and very, very dramatic. Could very well decimate the areas where humans can survive to a small percent of todays areas.
If any.
And we are stupid enough to do all within our might to accelerate that change.
In the year 1900, a hurricane hit the coast of Texas that killed thousands. Consider, also, the El Nino and El Nina weather systems in South America that go back centuries.

McMurdo's white and snowy, we're red and dusty. If I walk three blocks, I've pretty much walked out of town.
Well, except for the "red and dusty" part, same for me. And I live on the opposite end of the town. Small towns, gotta love 'em. But... McDonalds is only 7 miles away.
This is, obviously, a hot topic but the thread needs to steer clear of actual politics or it will be locked.
