what are alias files and can they cause distortion

Ok, in my genesis-3 female files (base pose and head) i have these files, that have alias in front of them, otherwise they have same name as the files in that file. for example: alias_head_ctrl_CheeksDimpleCreaseHD and ctrl_CheeksDimpleCreraseHD.

So my question is this, is this normal, i'm not sure what alias files are and can they cause distortation if they perhaps doubble the effect. Should there be alias files in g3f head morph file or base pose file.

My daz content library is in large hard drive and daz it self in fast and small ssd hard drive, if this has something to do with that.  (what i have read and understant from that, alias might be some kind of address where content is, i am most likely wrong)

Alias files are harmless..All they do is duplicate a morphs info so the morph can be accessed from a tab the alias file has been set to appear in. Eg say you have a morph that shows in parameters, but doesnt show under shaping tab, you would create an alias for that morph to appear under shaping so when u in the shaping tab, you can dial the morph from there. They don't hold any vertex info. In a nutshell, it's like a link that is named the same as the actual morph and allows you to dial it up from where the alias has been set to appear.

  • They are (mainly) used to put controls on another body part - the oens you list, for example, will put the paramater on the head as well as on the figure. That way a change you make to one of the sliders will be reflected by the other, since they are both the same property.
