HD add-on question

So,

I was testing a new skin shader on Lilith 7 HD and did some comparison renders with the standard wiewport subd (which is 1) and subd at 3 (which would supposedly activate the HD morphs). The thing is, both renders seemed to have the same amount of detail, geometry wise and so I wonder: Did any update of DAZ Studio make it so that dialing the viewport subd of the figure to 3 is no longer necessary for the HD morphs to appear in render (the render subd is always 3 by default)? Was it always like this and I got it wrong since the beginning?
