Kajira and more terrible product descriptions

Kajira for G3/V7         https://www.daz3d.com/kajira

So I just grabbed this from fast grab thinking I bought a PERSON.

But no, apparently I spent my hard-earned $5.39 for a slave collar and some submissive poses.
Daz, WTF. It REQUIRES Genesis 3 or Victoria 7, which makes it sound like a Morph and Head and Body options.

Why even say Victoria 7. What does this have to do with Victoria 7?

When you read this.....

What's Included and Features

  • Kajira for G3/V7: (.DUF and .PZ2)
    • 26 Poses
    • 1 Collar

It looks like I'm getting a .DUF file and a .PZ2 file which looks like that's the person and.....

then 26 poses and 1 collar, which looks like generic jewelry....

So I spent the last 45 mins searching and reinstalling thinking there's a hiccup in the installer and me new person is just hiding away in the runtime.

-----------------------------------

Looking at the figure on sale right next, is Carmilla for Victoria 7....

What's Included and Features

  • Carmilla: (.DUF)
  • Carmilla Custom Head HD
  • Carmilla Custom Body HD
  • Carmilla Custom Square Nails
  • Carmilla Custom Lashes
  • Material Options:

The .DUF part looks the same, but apparently this is a figure I dial in and probably don't select directly as an actor.

  • Carmilla Custom Head HD
  • Carmilla Custom Body HD

That's the rub right there.

Would have been nice if there was a real product description, instead of this:

Details

“I do not think, sir, you have any right to command me, merely because you are older than I, or because you have seen more of the world than I have; your claim to superiority depends on the use you have made of your time and experience.” ― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

-------------------------------------

I did a Google search and it turned up a bunch of slave references for the jewelry, which is the name of the prop, not the person.

Now I gotta think if a ticket is worth it or just eat it for the poses and choker.

Yeah reading the ad copy I would assume it's a figure as well.

  • McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,085

Terrible description... But I would have balked at there being only one promo of what looks like the character, and several for the poses... I would have chalked it up to being another cursory product description.

I guess there is an assumption that people search these products out using filters like Jewelry(is that a choice?) or Poses... But on its own placed in fast grab or some other page out of context the the search, it's confusing.

Also, it's not fair to people who are new to this sort of thing... Yeah, you can get a refund, but who enjoys that?

I'm sorry, it's not funny, but it is. A slave collar and poses instead of a person. You can't get further away from what you wanted if you TRIED. I literally laughed out loud, not at your predicament, but what you ended up with!  It's like, "Surprise! Have a collar."

Sorry you wasted your time on it though, seriously.

As for the gal, she looks like a Fred Winkler type.

No, what's even worse is that this shows up in Lost and Found. I'm used to that and I have to sometimes randomly double-click items to see if it's a material or a prop.

So I loaded up Victoria 7, thinking I'd need her as a base figure and maybe one of those icons is THE FIGURE.

Go figure. I start clicking on the icons and Victoria starts popping into all these poses.

    And I'm thinking

"These are the worst poses ever"

"When would I ever need a character begging for food?"

"She's stretching and praying, what a weird combination of poses..."

    "Who would want these?"

And then I do the Google search and I'm like "Ohhhhhhhh". blush

Now I've got to go see these poses.

I think it's definitely worth a support ticket. Even if you decide to keep it, just so we can get better product descriptions.

Oh my. Those poses are certainly... well, interesting.

Your first clue should have been the full price of $8.99. Don't recall a character for that price. wink  Not saying there hasn't been, but not one I can recall at the moment. Seriously, file a ticket and get your money back!

I almost bought this twice thinking it was a character/person also but realized at the last moment that it wasn't. lol

To be fair, this was (I think) ported over from RuntimeDNA when they merged with Daz. It might have been more clear over there what the product was.

I wouldn't think too harshly about the product or the PA - when they ported over all the RuntimeDNA products it was like thousands of products they had to move over. That's likely the reason for the lack of clarity.

    mmm-hmmm.

We'll see what Pose Doctor can do with these.

  • ,duf and .pz2 are just the file formats - a .duf file can be any DS file, in thise case 26 poses and a prop. I can understand making the slip, but the What's Included list is clear. The "mood text" in the blurb is fairly typical of RuntimeDNA stuff.

I can se I bought it too last year, thinking it was a character (wouldn't have bought the other stuff). Only paid $2.43 for it though so no big deal (in more than one sense you may say). BTW, the character looks a lot like this one (I know it's not, but anyway), on promo 2:

That is so misleading. PAs! We shouldn't have to Google what your product means! I googled Kajira and the first hit said slave woman, not her jewelry, so that and the product description really suggests you're buying a character, collar and poses.

    I wouldn't hesitate to get a refund.

I got quite the surprise with the Soraya character for Rune 7. She's a beautiful Viking-looking character by Fred Winkler and Sabby, and she was on FastGrab so I bought her. You couldn't tell of course from the promos because she isn't smiling, but make her smile and there is a huge gap between her two front teeth! I couldn't believe it. Googling didn't turn up anything,  but I finally found a forum post by Novica about the gap. Fortunately Soraya either came with a "fix the gap between her teeth" morph or it was part of another morph set. Good grief!

Keep in mind this is an older product that came over from RDNA. The way product descriptions/pages were over there is a lot different from the way Daz does things. When in doubt, look at the What's Included at the bottom of every product page so you know exactly what you're getting. That list should remove all questions over what is included.

Edit: Specifically, a character will include texture maps, morph files, presets, etc.

Gorean sex slave poses don't strike me as a particularly family friendly content. Thats pretty kinky actually.

I was surprised too. People can kink all they like for all I care as long as everyone involved consents, but it definitely seems at odds with a site where you can't even show a nipple. I'm also a bit uncomfortable with the message it sends out about how women are perceived here - 'We value this woman because she doesn't value herself, but don't expect to find anyone with the self-confidence to expose a breast to feed her baby.' Or even much in the way of babies for that matter - especially since the vast majority of Daz characters are of child-bearing age and at it like rabbits if all those 'come hither' poses and scanty outfits are anything to go by. Sex in DazLand obviously doesn't have the same consequences as it does elsewhere, otherwise there would be a lot more youngsters. The lack of elderly people is probably down to all that running around on battlefields in skimpwear and exposing vital body parts to the enemy. No wonder they all die young :)

I'm not saying I'd want to see the site awash with breast-feeding mothers, either - I wouldn't. I'd just rather see the occasional post-natal bra and granny pants among the frillies and a few 'parents and babies' pose sets than something that says 'Looking for a woman who is willingly abused? Look no further!'

That gap in the teeth story is hilarious.

"...but the What's Included list is clear."

Until you realize EVERY product in the store that says Beth/jasmine/lisa/bonnie/carol/Jane  FOR  VICTORIA 7 is a character.

I wonder if there is any other product that says NAME for base Figure and isn't...a...figure....

I'd be more likely to go my the name of the product and the lead promo shot over the 'lack of an exact mention of a  morph.

Is it more likely (around these parts) that a vendor FORGOT to list something in the product description or a vendor is using the name of an obscure submission slave character from a novel as the big hint as to what they are selling.

    ---------------------------

And yes, of course I am dragging this out and now being a stubborn jerk over $5.39.

And nope, it's not that serious.

And no, I'm NOT returning this product. It will be used by me to great effect.

I'll do the upper/lower body pose thing- and maybe use one of those cross-legged poses for meditation and the others for gym stretching.

Someone will indeed wear that necklace, but it won't be for whatever fetish it was originally designed for.

There is always a way to find a use for something. Heck, this might work as the first ankle bracelet since it is rigid.

The gap in the teeth is likey the result of a morph or a pose not working properly rather than part of the product design. Deformed teeth is fairly common distortion that can occur.

it definitely seems at odds with a site where you can't even show...

Let's call it what it is. Someone who works here thought the same thing I did and thought Kajira was an exotic name for the model.

I suspect if we keep talking about this product, it will be removed. And then I will have my first legendary product.

There are stores that specialize in this type of product would be hard to look at the promo art and the ad copy though and claim ignorance of what it entails. =-)

Then lets stop talking about it. The more exotic products in the store the better IMO. I would pick it up since i could find a use for it, but I just spent quite a bit at the other store that sells mostly exotic type products

I'm usually pretty prudish but I don't see anything wrong with the poses and collar. Yeah, it's not my thing (at all), but I don't think anything shown in the product looks too risque for the shop. I think the most they would do if you keep talking about it is they might change the name and/or product description.

The Gorean kink/culture is really disturbed, but given it's old migrated content, probably nothing to worry about. The filtering on content here would keep any new stuff on those lines out, so hey.

sadly I recognised the word having read John Norman's books in my youth.

it was like something bad for you that tasted rather off but you had to keep looking to see how much worse it could get, Sharon Green was another such author.

Somewhat of a feminist that I am I tended to put my self in that world in my imagination and fantasies  and think about how I would go about and organise and lead the resistance!!!

LOL. I read both as a teen, although I didn't get past more than one GOR or two Gor books. Sharon Green I did read, and I'm still shocked by a few scenes that occured in her novels.

<nod> I've noticed a lot of the RDNA transfers over the last several months have very, very weird layout of the store page text; sometimes (even worse than in this case) it's hard to figure out exactly what the item is. It's not helping that RDNA allowed smaller items, with maybe one or two props, where DAZ store products are more substantial.
