Perceptually, most people couldn't accurately identify an inch, a foot or a mile without a measuring instrument anyway, and the same is true for a centimetre, metre or kilometre.
I'm in the not most people catagory then.. for both imperial and metric distances. Can also guesstimate volumes pretty well, cups, teaspoons, or milimeters. Very good at imperial weights, not had enough experience with metric weights though so have to convert in my head with those. Temp I can convert sorta in the ballpark but my mind uses imperial first since I've lived 42 of my 43 years in the USA. I think it's partially just natual ability and partially trained, I did the metric estimation event in Science Olympiad when I was in high school. Only differences that really throw me is trying to follow british cooking recipes since they use weight for most ingredients and we use volume.. I don't have a kitchen scale so.. lots of guessing or looking stuff up online... how many grams does a cup of flour weight?
Well, Taoz, in the winter hereabouts, going back to when I was a kid, I always looked out the window at the smoke rising from the chimneys to see how cold it was. If the smoke was rising straight up like a poker, it was going to be a cold walk to school.
My weather app actually has animated chimney smoke when temperatures are low but I don't know if it changes like that with the temperature.

After a day and a half of rain, dark, grey and cold, the weather here has returned to being dark, grey and cold. Ah, August.
I wonder if DAZ sees an uptick in UK sales. If I wasn't mired in home improvements, 3D is what I'd be messing with.
