How long is the period for the extra 30% off discount for new items?

How long is the period for the extra 30% off discount for new items? I thought it was two weeks, but nothing older than a week shows this discount in the store. Has this changed, or did I know it wrong all along?

Edit: Okay, if I go back far enough, stuff older than 10 days start showing the discount again. What's up with days 7 to 10? :-o

I thought the 30% discount on new items applied for the first 30 days, with the "new" tag being removed after 60-90?

How do we know when something is not in the "usual" category? Is it a temporary hiccup in the system, or is there a set of items that have their intro period set to less than two weeks?

As noted above, the 30% intro discount is for 2 weeks. The "new" tag, which means the item can't be included in sale offers, lasts for 60 days.
