How to refresh images for renders
in The Commons
Hi,
I'm using IRAY in Ds 4.9.4 ( I believe the latest version)
I have figured out how to refresh images, however I am having problems with the renderer refreshing the images.
For instance if I am working on creating a texture:
I render the texture and find something I want to change.
I change the texture in Photoshop
I update the texture with the surface tab refresh textures and automatically update textures. That works fine
Unfortunately once the images are refreshed they still render the previous image before it was corrected
Is ther a way to clear the previous texture from the render's memory so I can render the update.

Sometimes re-saving the texture in Photoshop is necessary.
Beyond that, a sure way to fix it is to completely re-start the app.
Hi Collective3d,
Thanks for the valuable info.
I did resave in Photoshop a second time and it seemed to work.
It is very frustrating when developing textures to have to restart the app every time I make a slight change so I appreciate your help..

I use a combination of the Purge Memory Script in the Scripts Content Folder and Refresh Image function in the Surfaces Pane.
I'm still working with 3DL in 4.7 but every time I alter a texture on the fly I save as a new file name and load that and then have no need to refresh etc.
'Corse I need to tidy up the folder at some stage (or get bigger 'n' bigger drives).
Hi,
Thanks so much for all of your help.
I'm going to try all of them.

I just save as a new name each time.. dress test 1, dress test 2, etc.. once I have a final I like I save it as the real file name I want. It's a pain in the butt bug that's been around seemingly forever (at least since DS3), it's worse with Iray. In 3DL you >usually< get 3 or 4 changes before it stops working, with Iray you're lucky if you get one.
I'm having the same issues with my texturing. I find doing what Fisty suggests works. I just save the changes as JPGs while testing, but when it's where I want it, I save the final as PNG.
Thanks fisty and divamakeup.
I guess I'll have to do save changes in different names. Grrrhhhh!
i could not get the "purge from memory" to update the render images.
Hopefully they'll fix that bug soon. it is very time consuming.

strange I have no issue when I use a combination of the two. One of those some have it some don't bug...hard to track those down.
I've run into this problem and ended up doing what Fisty said. And doing as Diva suggests and saving the best variation as a png will definitely help when it's time to purge the draft iterations, especially if your final test isn't the keeper.
This is what I've resorted to doing too.
