Yes, I would like to know too. :)
I found the original pic in the gallery https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/401311/
That would be @nonesuch00's custom work to recreate himself in Studio. Don't think you can buy him...but maybe he'll come by and offer the settings.
Fantastic work! Lots of personality in that render.
That is just my snail's pace attempts at improving my FaceGen self-portraits. Interestingly after decided to use another picture to generate the morph and compared to the old morph I discovered the importance of avoiding too strong a light in photographs. Also the new morph I found was surprisingly similar to the generic G3M male geometrically, the main difference being the depth and height of the eyes. I did that by sliding the morph sliders back and forth, LOL, and not via any intrinsic artistic ability I have.
I'd be glad, after I finish setting up the current render I want to do with sharing the custom shader settings but those are basically a combination of Genesis 8 saved as shader presets and applied to G3M. I also copied some of the G3 shader adjustments that forum goer AndyS had on his DeviantArt page that he in turn copied from the very long thread by many forum members about the most accurate 'PBR' / 'iRay' settings to use in DAZ Studio. So it's a mix of the too. The hair shader presets for the color too I can share.
The rest, except for the FaceGen morph are unaltered DAZ 3D Store or Renderosity products so I can't share them. I list them on the gallery page. The FaceGen morph I can't share not because although I'm planning on using the morph commercially but more so because it would be undercutting the FaceGen Artist Pro's SW author's business. For similar geometry just use the G3M default fellow, raise the eyes higher and deeper, make the lips thinner and you've basically have a similar geometric face. I just created a G8F face I like using just the DAZ G8F Face Morphs that I am rendering now.
Most of the personality though comes from the expression and the lighting and those products are j cade's Painter's Lights and the Gianni Pro Bundle Tough as Nails Expressions and Poses that is included with that.
If it's wanted, I will upload the scene file to the gallery page later but with the G3M default instead. For the scene file to work you will need the products in that list. I will load the skin & hair & eyebrow shader presets to this thread this evening or tomorrow. Also the shape presets for the hair & eyes. You will need the two RedzStudio products at Renderosity for those. And those products also include shape & color presets that are while not exhaustive and sufficiently representative and easily alterable.
Thank you, nonesuch! That's very genorous. Love what you did with him, and he's definitely worth of being the cover guy on the DAZ freebies! Would love to do something similar with your tips.
I've uploaded the scene file to the gallery download section but the more helpful thing will be the G8 settings I've saved as image-less shader settings for Genesis 3 which I will upload as a zip here after I've resaved them to make sure there are no images included as part of the shader preset requirements. Then just click on each Genesis 3 surface in succession and apply the corresponding saved G8-G3 shader preset to it. One thing I've noticed, or rather personally prefer, is to have pale characters have very light off-white transluceny color and tan characters a red translucency color.
The best tip I've got is go with the latest DAZ Studio version, Genesis 8 skin shader setting and adjust the translency color to taste and lighting environment and the try to create a scene file that works with DAZ Studio's rendering strengths (that's where I usually fail).
OK, here are the shader settings. They are as I said a mix between the Genesis 8 shader settings, the best of the settings of the very long forum thread 'best iRay settings for human skin' as collated by AndyS on his DeviantArt site and there are no images included as part of the shader settings that means if you want to convert a Genesis 3 character, male or female to use settings very similar to Genesis 8 without changing the texture set or maps apply the shader settings.
I'd recommend though that you adjust the translucency color though according to the ethnicity of the character to be from off-white to light pink to shades of yellow ochre to shades of orange to red to pure red. The other forum goers talk about the translucency colors in detail of the form thread I mentioned.
Nothing else to share as those are basically purchased product presets.
nonsesuch. I would buy that character, I promise you. He's not perfect and has character and that wins the day for me. I know it's not for sale and why but I just want to express to you how well done it is. WONDERFUL job! :)
thanks
