How do I move all the stuff at DAZ connect onto my hard drive and then get rid of it?
Thanks for your help.

Did you mean Daz Connect or DIM (Install Manager)?
As far as I can tell, Daz Connect isn't something you can "get rid of" - if you have products that require Daz Connect to download you have to use that if you want to have the product in your runtime - it's the point of Daz Connect only products, I think. If you don't want to download the product via Daz Connect you have to wait a year before a Daz Connect item gets moved to a "non-Daz Connect" item.
If you mean Install Manager, you can bypass using that by directly downloading product files from your Product Library (found under "My Account").
The stuff you install with Connect IS on your hard drive. If you want to delete it, go to the Daz Connect Data Folder listed in Content Dirrectory Manager and delete the Data/Cloud folder.
...as I understand all you have to really to do is check the "work offline" box,.and make sure anything you pruchase offers the Direct Downoad and DIM options. I am running the 4.9 beta and have it set it to work offline only.
I agree with divamakeup, I don't believe there is a way to remove it, and there is come content that will come down that way.
BUT if you are trying to regain the Hard Drive space on your System Drive, you can move the directory to another drive. You set that location via the Content Directory Manager.
So here are the Directions:
Set up a Directory on the Root of the target Drive
Like D:\DAZConnect\
If you know where your DAZ Connect Directory is now, you can start it Copying
If you don't you can find out inside DAZ Studio.
To find the Directory and change it:
Enter Content Directory Manager by:
Right clicking on the Content Library
Click on "Content Directory Manager"
Expand the "Current Directories"
Expand the "DAZ Connect Data"
Select the old directory (something like c:\...\DAZConnect
On the Left Side pane, under Directory: Click on "Edit…"
This will bring you to the Current Location in a System Dialogue box
Navigate you way to the no location and then click on Select Folder.
Click accept on "Content Directory Manager"
Then exit Studio and copy the files from the old to the new directory.
Now all you have to do is wait for the files to copy and then erase them from the old location.
Opinion about file locations:
I believe, you should never have you Data on your system Drive, incase the the system blows up and you need to reinstall. So the first thing I did, after installing DAZ Studio, was move all my Content to a second Drive, including DAZ Connect Content. If you are on a Laptop, you can get a 2TB Portable drive. If you have a Laptop with a CD drive, you can get a Carrier to replace the CD with a Hard Drive.
I also separate my Content by Store, so I can wipe out any store and reinstall it, I've do this about once a Year. If I could Figure out how to Create a Virtual Folder system for other store, I would have each Product in it's own directory, But I Believe it requires all those products to have Complete Metadata.
I am working on a Desktop, so I have the ability to have other drives. So one of them has my Daz3D Cache directory. This is an SSD, which speeds up things, for the Rendering is not fighting over time on my System Drive.
I hope this helps
...this is exactly why all my libraries/runtimes are on a second drive. Easier to reinstall just the OS and programmes than everything from scratch.
I also recently took my workstation completely offline so where I am concerned, Daz Connect is moot. Yeah, a bummer when I see something I like but it is Connect only, however, I like my Libraries and Runtimes the way they are (and I hate using the WIndows Documents folders even for text files).
A great idea. My graphics workstations (at home and at work) have never, ever been online. I have no firewalls or antivirus and they both boot from cold in seconds (the SSD helps). It's nice not to worry about viruses or one of Microshaft's updates screwing something up. While some programs require internet access, there's always a workaround to make them work offline.
+1
Smart, I just want to dispense with it completely. I wish I could move all the files to my normal directory and just use that.
I suppose that could uninstall everything from that is installed in DAZ Connect, Then Reinstall everything using the Dim. Then just insure that you never load anything using DAZ Connect.
You can't move that Content Library, due to each product being in its own mini-Content Library. They use some sort of Programming Voodoo under the hood so it all appears in the Content Library as a single Library. That is why they are called Virtual Folders.
I think that is a solution to your issue. I don't think you can turn off the Virtual Folder system. If fact I would like to build a Content Library of my own using the Virtual Folder system. Then you could just unzip a single product into a folder, and never have to worry about it over writing something, due to it being it its own folder it would make getting rid of bad content easier.
