V8 and G8 merchant kits?

I have created my own clothing before but I am having a difficult time trying to begin again after a long time. I was looking at this product https://www.daz3d.com/merchant-resource-genesis-2-females-starter-suits Will these starter outfits still work for V8/G8? Also are there any merchant resource kits being worked on to be released soon? Thanks for any replies.

You should assume, unless the vendor says otherwise, that Merchant resources are to be used only for the figure they were created for.

You should assume, unless the vendor says otherwise, that Merchant resources are to be used only for the figure they were created for.

That would mean any Merchant Resource has a very very short shelf life. New figure lines come out every two years, after a little over two years Daz merchants tend to stop putting out products for previous figure lines - so if you "assume it's only to be used for the figure they were created for" it would make merchant resources pretty useless after a short period of time.

One would think that a merchant resource can be used for anything that a merchant can sell, reguarldess of what figure that original MR was released under. Otherwise, again, it wouldn't be very smart to purchase MRs near the end of a figure line's "reign". And considering their cost (as they are usually more expensive than regular Daz released products), it doesn't make sense to tell people they can only use it for "X amount of months". Which is what you're telling people if you're telling them they can only use Genesis 3 merchant resources for G3 and that you can't use them for Genesis 8.

Well, I guess it depends on if you are asking about the license for using them or if they will fit onto other generations.  As far as licensing go, i.e. what the merchant allows, I would go ahead and contact V3Digitimes and ask him/her.  If you are asking if the mesh itself (the actual product) will allow you to make clothing that fits G3F properly, I'm going to say maybe not, because they do have a different body shape, so I don't know how far off the mark each piece of starter clothing would be.  In either case I would contact V3Digitimes, they are pretty good about responding.

    Merchant licenses are VERY particular.

If you don't think that makes them worth whatever they are cost, then, well.

(Personally that's why I regard them as a fortunate perk if I already find it worth buying)

I am not sure  that the Gen 2 templates would be very helpful for making clothes for V8 as they would not be the correct size but on sharecg there are these for G2F which you can get for free to try things out before spending any money :)

If people can't use MRs after such a short period, that's really disappointing. :(

...I guess all the more reason to learn how to do stuff myself. crying

Thank you all for the replies, will contact the author as Ice Dragon suggests. Hopefully there will be something similar released for V8/G8.

Thanks Tottalou, i actually found these yesterday. I am using the Daz to Hexagon bridge so these meshes are not importing at the right size they are huge. Have to do some reading in the Hexagon forum. Maybe just a more intuitive designer is what I need but prices are very high for those. (like Marvelous Designer).

I have these files & they seem to import into Daz at the correct scale from there  you can send them accross the bridge into Hexagon & they look fine so you could perhaps save as a Hex file once they are there at the proper scale.  If I just open the Object File in Hex then as you say they are super large.

I have never used these files mainly because Hexagon crashes often for me plus I do have Marvellous Designer - Steam Version from when it was on sale.

Its worth looking at Steam sales as well as on the MD site if you are looking to buy :)

It would be useful if there were a (more expensive of course) merchant resource version of many of the texture sets, morphs, and whatever relevant products that are being released.

Thanks for the tip! I will do that today with importing into Daz and then in Hexagon. If MD is still on Steam I could add it to my wish list and hope for a sale. I pondered the 500 one time fee for MD at their website but wow what a price tag. I created a dress several years ago now with Hexagon and I posted it somewhere in the freebies forum here called First Impressions for A4. It's also at sharecg. It was a popular download and I still have the dress but not the model before I smoothed it so it doesn't work for me as a starter. At least I know I can do it just have to work on having patience.  Anyway thanks again and to everyone who has given advice and comments.
