Well, DAZ (themselves) mostly updates the newest models - so if at all it would have to be done by someone else...

In the meantime ( for the humanoid characters ), you'd have to convert your figures  ( using GenX2 or some other method which you can find on this forum - scripts, morphloader, etc. )  to the newer base which does already have these features.

Hope you find something applicable.  smiley

  • I'd say it's not likely from Daz. They don't make a lot on non-humans. It's been forever since they made any.

I suppose it's up to PAs. And I don't know. I don't understand the powerpose issues involved beyond the fact that the improved template for G8 is not open like the previous templates were.

  • DAZ will do it for G8M, but beyond that, I doubt they will do more unless they have another base model coming that they want to spring on the unsuspecting masses here. wink

Well, DAZ has encrypted the process for v 4.9 (whatever the last version was) which prevented the use of the expanded Powerpose sets that we had all been enjioying generated by [I am at work and will find the wonderfully prolific genetleman's name when I get home]. Since this old tech is one of the things that they have programmed into G8F and G8M to give the illusion of value when all character's with similar rigging (such as G3M and G3F which both have facial bones) could have it and they have encrypted the process disabling it for hobbyist coders to come to our rescue, I seriously doubt that it will be explored at all as they want to sell the new thing and hope we all buy in generating more profit for them. It's business.

So... TLDR... yeah, no it's highly unlikely and it's a business decision to get more money.

Although the PowerPose add-ons for Genesis 8 are encrypted that doesn't mean all future add-ons will be, nor will it prevent others from making their own once the editing features mentioned in the change log are available.

i was really hoping for face rigged Dragon 4 by now.  Big Cat 3. Wolf.

without face rigging, it feels like the same ole same old. indecision

So will DAZ fully support a similar face rigging system for G3F and G3M figures? :)

imo, the powerpose isnt the break through.

    It's the face rigging.

Face sculpting, mobility, and expressions without waiting for a morph package.
"Acting" for the actors.  There is the break through!!

I like the face flexibility in G8F but it needs more limits defined or easier to control posing via the mouse / dots...it's too easy to overshoot now.

  • Face posing is not new in G8. Powerpose exposure of the face bones is.

G3 has exactly the same face bones. They also share most (not all) of the same pose controls for thos bones. G8 has some new controls, and some new HD expressions, but only a very small number of controls changed names. So most face pose presets G3 has will work on G8. It's just harder to get at G3's face bones because the face bones are hidden. You have to show hidden in the scene table to see them.
