Highway signs

edited December 1969 in The Commons

Looking for those signs you see on virtually every highway. Sometimes off to the side, other times overhead..informing you what next exit is..etc. Like Albany 20 miles, and under that maybe Roncheck Next Exit. They are usually white lettering on green BG. Need something like that I can edit my own towns, etc on

Thanks :)

Not sure if this is any use to you, but I have a Streets pack here. And it's on sale right now, (not sure for how long though).

Moved to the Commons as it's a request for, not an offer of, freebies.

NO, Sorry it was posted as a thread in the General Freepository, which is a forum for offering freebies. It was not put in the General Freebie request thread, which is the only thread in the Freepository where you can request a freebie.

In any case...there was a similar thread several weeks ago...

And one of the easiest things to do...use a simple plane, a transparency map to round the corners and a texture created in an image editor...add the text Then apply that map to the Diffuse, under Surfaces.

And here's what I posted in that other thread.

For signage, I'd probably use the Swansea font, because every thing I can find, it seems to be a Public Domain font. It's not a perfect match, but a pretty close one.

And the AIGA symbols are available from here...

    or

There are also some additional collections there.

The Swansea font is a very close match to the standard font used and it doesn't have the restrictions that the 'official' font does...

Stonemason's Urban Sprawl 2 has some overhead road signs as well a a whole slew of other content. Definitely not free but very useful. The rural Crossroads also has some side of the road signage.

Well, thanks for buying it. I'm sure you'll find a use for it.

Btw, you could probably use some of the signs in it anyway. Making them larger and adding your own texture should get you close, although it depends if you have a specific type of sign in mind.
