Water cooled graphics cards worth it?

Short of the story, I'm strongly considering buying water cooled video cards now, specifically the 1080 Ti.
Used to overclock, haven't in a long time. Never got into water cooling as by the time it became popular, I stopped overclocking. Lately with rendering, the thought of the expense, putting together the cooling system & checking for leaks and the worry about future leaks seemed like too much hassle.
Now with factory cards sold with built-in self contained water cooling, I'm thinking of going that route. Specifically been looking at some EVGA 1080 Ti cards. Running two heavy cards SLI, the top card runs at a much lower clock (like base) since there's less room for air right above the hot backplate from the lower card. I'm thinking the performance gain of the card not getting throttled would be worth it. Are they?

I plan on also getting two EVGA 1080Ti, the hybrid version. Water cooled is always better, in my experience. The two older Titan X's (also EVGA, hybrid) I have never reach a high temp and thus I don't get the problems others had with it when the temp went too high. They help keep the temperature down in the case. I also use water cooling for my CPU.
After poking around more, considering the hybrid version as well.
I like that the whole card and cooling system is sold as a full unit. I've had EVGA cards, and their warranty is excellent. Helps with concerns over any leaks, I'm sure they will cover it under warranty.
