UV templates?

LyoneLyone Posts: 139

Hi, I would like to make some textures for DAZ products. For that I would have to export the UV templates to Photoshop but I can't find them. I have read somewhere in the forum that the templates should be in the Product library but that some products have templates and other not. I would like to make some extra textures for "Beorn for Genesis 3 Males" but I can't see any templates. When I go to Beorn product store page, I see the following description "Texture Templates available through the Product Library", but I can't find them. Anyone who knows?

Thank you.

There is a plugin for Studio, I think, that shows the templates from the items in the scene.  I can look it up.

I am also trying to figure out how to get the templates for clothing items also.

IF there are templates available they will be in your product library for that product.

The UV templates you can use I believe by searching for Snow Sultan's templates. I believe Snow Sultan has them from all the way back to V4/M4 all the way up to G3F/G3M. They were edited by Snow Sultan to use to make new textures with.

Templates, if installed are usually in a templates folder, either in My Library or My Library\runtime.

If templates aren't installed, but available, you can download them from the Daz store. They will be listed as a package  in your purchase history. If that is not an option, you can export the figure as .obj and use a third party application like UVMapper or Blender to display and save out the UVs as an image file. While I'm a blender man, myself, that's a whole lot of tool for just grabbing a UV so I'd recomend UVMapper. It's more directly focused on what you want to do.

Thank you. I looket at Snowsultan's site. I see that he makes templates for figures (if you want to make skin texture for people). He also has some clothing templates but I didn't see any templates for the newest DAZ generations. I think I will have to make the UV templates myself. Thank you anyway.

Thank you for your answer. I looked in my Product library but I can't see any templates for "Beorn for Genesis 3 Males". There is only one package but no templates. I see what you mean, I looked at other products from Genesis 2 and some of Genesis 3 and there is 2 packages, one for the product and one for the templates. But there is only one in the Gen3 outfit I looked at. I looked at several outfits from G2M/F and G3M/Fand some outfits have templates and other no. So I guess I will have to make the templates myself for the ones who do not have them.

Yes, I think I heard about that when you say it but I don't know neither where it is. Maybe we will have to create the templates ourselves.

It is called UV tailor and very handy for DS users.

Now I feel a little stupid. I tried to export Beorn pants as an obj from DAZ and imported it i UV Mapper Pro and I see that there is already a template. So I only have to export the UVs out from UVMapper for texturing. So I don't need to make a template myself, it's already there. Thank you all for your help :)

Miss Bad Wolf, maybe you don't have to buy the UV tailor plugin. The plugin seems very interesting but if you already have UV Mapper maybe you don't need it. I had UV Mapper Pro (which I never used because I never made stuff before). Now I looked at it and it seems to be a great program.

Glad you found it.   Just because you cannot find it the first time does not make you stupid.
