GTX 1080 ti and memory requirements

Is there a reliable way to check and see if a scene will fit on my GTX 980 ti and if the card is in fact being used for the render.  Sim Tenero's Memory Assistant shows products such as Fern Lake and On the Shore as not fitting on my new GTX 1080 ti card but I understand there may be problems with Memory Assistant. Fern Lake is slow to manipulate in the viewport with Iray preview selected but on On the Shore seems to manipulate fairly well and renders fairly fast (10 to 15 minutes).

Maybe this information helps in your case?:

    - - -

    1) check the official DAZ Studio log file that you can access

Help -> Troubleshooting -> View Log File...

to find out how much VRAM is installed as total and how much of that is available for use

    - - -

    2) check the render log window for information about the render in progress

-> This will tell how much VRAM is used for

    Geometry memory consumption

    Texture memory consumption

    Lights memory consumption

    - - -

    3) Compare the entry “available memory” from the DAZ Studio log file to the entries Geometry, Texture and Light memory consumption in the render log window.

    - - -

    for more details compare:

Something's up, because Fern Lake should fit no sweat...  Or do you have like a half dozen 8K monitors hooked up to it?

I have two monitors, one 4K and one 1920x1080.  I used a total of 5750MB VRAM, that's including what Windows is using for the desktop.  Also preview moved very quick.  There's also your interface settings.  I don't remember all, but check:

    Preferences -> Interface tab ->

    Hardware Anti-Aliasing: On

    Display Optimization: Best

Texture Resources: Performance  (to taste here)

    Multi-Threading: On

Thanks, all. That information was very helpful.

I'm not sure what's up either but now I loaded Fern Lake and looking at the log file there was about 10.6 Gb VRAM available to use and it did in fact render in about 8 minutes using my GTX 1080 ti. Also after rendering it now manipulated easily. So, it appears my new card is working properly and now all is well.

Since it appears that Sim Tinero's Memory assistant doesn't work properly anymore, I'd like to see a better way to get a resonable estimate of the memory requirements for a scene before rendering it.
