Zero pose after using "Adjust rigging to shape"

I have some scanned models that I want to bring into Daz so that they match " the zero pose" of the original Daz Figure.

I tried rotating each individual bone after using "Adjust rigging to shape", but is takes a long time and the result is not that good

Is is possible to do this within Daz or any other tools/software?

What are you wanting to do - pose the figure to match a guide? Or are these morphs? Adjusting rigging to Shape is used when there is a newly loaded moprh applied to a figure, one that is altering the shape sufficiently that the boens no longer line up correctly.

  • I just want to change the pose of the scanned models to a similar standing pose as the Daz Figure.

So are they rigged? if so, how did you rig them?

  • I rigged them in daz but If you know any other way I would really appreciate it.

No, just trying to understand the situation. OK, so you have the imported scans and they are now rigged - you can't use Adjust Rigging to Shape, you have to get the bones aligned with the model (if they aren't) by hand, then memorise the rigging. If the issue is alignment, but the centre points are in roughly the right place, you can use the Align commands from the Joint Editor right-click menu to do a quick rotation into place.

It probably doesn't apply here since you are working with unique meshes, but once you have the base rigging set up and memorised you can then use Adjust rigging to Shape to move the bones to cope with a morph - but you need the starting point set up first.

  • I was hoping daz had something similar like mixamo ( tried mixamo but not enough reference points to get a good result).

I can wrap the scanned models with Daz mesh if that makes any difference in the workflow?

Can you describe what did you do step by step?

DS would only rig existing mesh in its current form. You would need an external modelling tool to fix arm positions and clean the mesh up, then import into DAZ Studio.

  • At the moment I can

This is what I have done in the past to get a quick result :

    1. I wrapped Daz mesh on top of the scanned model.

    2. Then loaded into Daz and Adjusted the rig to shape.

    3. Rotated the individual bones of the model (by hand) to match a standing A-pose/T-pose similar to Daz Figure.

Aligning the bones by hand is more or less trial and error and takes a lot of time.

If anyone knows a better way of doing this, please let me know.

When you run Adjust Rigging to sahpe there should be an options to adjust the alignment of bones as well as their centre points. That's assuming that you mean, in step 2, that you are loading via a moprh loader to create a new morph on the base figure - if not then Ajust Rigging to Shape will do nothing for the reasons I explained above.

  • It would have been great if the bones can be auto reversed back to zero position after using "Adjust Rig to shape"

Maybe there is a text file that stores their coordinate positions?

Bone positions after adjustment will be stored in your scene's .duf file, initial bone setup is in /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Female/Genesis3Female.dsf. Both files are text files compressed using gzip.

Still, if your intention is to fit your scanned model to default Genesis3 pose then you should do it in external modeller as Male-M3dia suggested.

I have tried mixamo but it requires the model to be on the A-pose/T-pose before you rig it. It does not give good result if the model is on another pose.

If you know any other software that can do this faster then Daz I am willing to try it. What software do you recommend?

I'm mostly using Hexagon for modelling and it's doable there for sure.

  • Hexagon can be good for modelling but I need to pose the models, and things get done quicker with Daz.
