G3 Hair Misfits on G8 whose height is changed.

I had been having good luck autofitting G3 hair to G8, to the point I hadn't been buying G8 hair during early experiments. Then I wanted a short G8 character, and used the Actor / Real World / Height morph. Autofit failed big time. As G8's head went closer or further from the gound, the hair seems to shift twice that distance. Below, you have a short base G8 with G3 Olenna Hair. The shorter the G8, the lower Olenna Hair gets. I got the same result with two other G3 hairs. I shifted to a G2 hair and got good fit results. Anyone else see this?

Yep, seen this a few times. Unparent the hair from G8. Under the hair, select "hip." Use the y transform to reposition the hair correctly. Then parent the hair to G8 head, using "parent in place." This should keep the hair where you put it.
Thanks. Too much to hope they'll fix things? Ah, vell. This to me is gneration 8 all over. Lots of manual fixes to stuff that could have been done right. At least, some folk are willing to help providing manual fixes.

I think your approach could be made to work with a short hair. I made the y transform to get the fit. Paranting the hair to G8 I could turn the head but the hair didn't move. Paranting to G8's head, the hair moved with the head, but there was no connection with the shoulders or the rest of her body. The hair moved as one too much hairspray rigid block. With a short hair, that would have been fine. With a hip length hair? Not so good. Ah, well. I have lots of G2 hair.

Olenna hair should end up fitted to g8 and can turn her head and work with Victoria 8 height :)

I just tried both methods but neither worked. The height morphs still messes up the hair fit.
There is a simple enough solution.
I deleted the FBMHeight morph from the hair (My DAZ 3D Library\data\AprilYSH\OlennaGenesis\OlennaHairG3F\Morphs\AprilYSH\People\FBMHeight.dsf in this case)
Then when you autofit the hair it will autogenerate the height morph correctly.
Oh I see, V8 height should be fine but it looks like the base G8 Height and Legs Length morphs are not compatible.
So delete both FBMHeight and PBMLegsLength from the hair. They are included because I ERC freeze the custom bones to them.
I just learned a variant of this effects at least some G3 clothing as well. I autofit G3's Casual Style for Genesis 3 Females onto G8. I got a decent fit at regular size. (Some poke through.) Slide the height morph, though, and the entire outfit messes up. From Boots to Hat with everyting in between, the clothes would move farther than the figure. On either tall or short settings, the boob bullge for the shirt and vest would move so far off the boobs to leave the breats in full scale all out poke through. The rest of the Actor / Full Body / Real World drawbars result in autofit clothing following fairly well. (Again, some minor poke through. The sort of stuff 'adjust' morphs of the clothing usually fix.) This is also not a problem with all G3 outfits. I could use the height morph with G3's Esther outfit on G8 for example.
The manual work arounds are appreciated, but I think something basic is off.
As mentioned previously, your issue comes from the G3 Height morph being different to the G8 Height morph. Legs Length morphs are also different between G3 and G8.
From a cursory inspection I see the G8 height morph adjusts the hip y translation where the G3 does not. Other joint differences must exist to make up for this and culminates in the ERC relationships being different overall. The result on a naked figure may look the same but anything fitted to G8 (if they include the FBMHeight or PBMLegsLength files) will jump off her body when the Height morph or Legs Length are used.
For Ollena hair, delete these two morphs from the G3 hair and they will be regenerated for G8. For other items, I'm not sure if there are further actions required.
Esther Outfit does not include the FBMHeight file so there is no need to delete it for it to work.
It looks like a deliberate change by Daz. I'm not sure what the easiest solution for g3 refits is for these two morphs, I haven't jumped into converting my G3 items yet. Maybe SickleYield has looked into it :)
FYI FBMHeight or PBMLegsLength files were included for outfits and hair with custom bones that needed to be erc linked. Not all hairs and outfits have custom bones.
Hmm... At a guess, the G2 hair and clothing autofits well as they are less likely to have custom bones? The easy way to avoiding G3 refit problems is to avoid G8? Ah, well. I picture this room full of evil arch villians, black cloaks, tall black top hats, all twirling handlebar moustaches, thinking up ways to annoy the users. Grrr. ;)
I love this hair! When deleting those 2, does it have any impact on G3F for which this hair is intended? Perhaps a G8 fit preset would be better?
