Re Basics for Genesis 8

On the G8 page (I think!) it says that the basics are free withthe new Daz download, but I've only just updated to the new Daz and there's no G8 anywhere. So am I right that the basics should be there? - or have I misunderstood something?

Also a petty question: why leap from Genesis 3 to 8? What happened to 4-7?

How are you installing your products? DIM or manual? The change was made to make it easier for the user to know which Genesis goes with which Vicky. So any character product that comes out with the number 8 in it you know it goes to Genesis 8

I use the DIM. I updated my Daz on the 14th, but there are no G8 Starter Essentials anywhere.

Gnesis "8" now makes sense! Thank you.

They are a seperate download from Studio, type "starter" in the search field in DIM and you should see them.

They are free, a new downlaod 'set' along with the essentials for teh previous Genesis versions - check DIM (if you use that)

I asked pretty much the same question over in the "Backwards Compatibility" thread It seemed like G3F skins would work on G8F but G2F and earlier skins  wouldn't work. Any suggestion would be welcome.

Currently Genesis8Female and Victoria8 will only take G8F/V8 and Genesis3Female skin textures.

To be able to use Genesis2Female( and earlier ) skin textures you need to convert them to Genesis3Female first.( there are several ways to do this, it can be done in Blender, or probably the

easiest and quickest would be to purchase the texture converter app by Blacksmith3D, with any extra figure plug-ins that you require.smileywink

I think it's generally agreed that the must effective and seemless solution is the BlackSmith Texture Transformer program & set of plugins at the Rendo site. There is also a tutorial that SickleYield wrote that is not as seemless but might be adaptable for your needs.
