Now that there's a V8, will M8 still be so l8 to the party as usual, or will he come a bit more prematurely?

"Prematurely" is not a good word to use with a guy.
But yes, I really hope that Mike will show up earlier than the usual 4- or 5-month lag time. I also hope he follows V8's trend and is less of a model-type and more of an average looking guy.
I prefer DAZ takes its time and not rush and learn from the V8 release. Considering males get generally less support than the females, you don't want a rush job on the figure.
I hope he doesn't arrive too soon to be honest, let daz get any kinks out of V8 and learn what does and doesn't work so that M8 is even better.
I'm not a fan of the A pose with regard to content creation personally but I imagine daz has something planed in the future that requires that partictular feature.
I liked Michael 7 so M8 has a lot to live up to, didn't like M6 so I hope he's nothing like him lol and I quite liked Genesis.
So October or November for his usual outing would be fine by me
I'm looking forward to M8. I use more males in my art than females.
Would love to see the return of Freak ,he was always my favorite male character. I guess wishfull thinking at this point. Maybe if I shout it out, GO FREAK 8!
Well, when he does arrive, I hope his anatomical elements are better G3M's elements. That was a definite step in the wrong direction. G2M was much more usable and poseable.

Since most of my products have anatomical elements in them, I think actually the opposite is true. G3M gens have more bones in them than G2M (instead of 3 bones and one covered part of the glans and shaft, which made movement only possible by morphs) thus more posable, it also had HD details built in (though you had to set render subdivision to 3 or 4) that G2M lacked.
Yes, I have to admit that I like the rigging on G3M's elements but that foreskin was the worst ever. As someone who used that a lot with G2M, G3M's foreskin was a big let down. Simple on or off does not leave a lot of room for creativity.
I have no opinion on it as it was a rarely used feature, hence its simplification. And G2M is a headache to make foreskin morphs for to go with the gens morphs compared to G3M. G2M required 6 morphs for each section of gens compared to just one in G3M, as G2M used animation for its MCM/JCM. There's a product on renderotica that makes a intermediate foreskin morph, but truly I won't miss G2Ms effort and hope it doesn't make a return. It was a rarely used feature that required more polygons; those polygons that was removed from that area back into the gens areas and made morphing it much better.
Ah, I never have managed to get into doing morphs of my own yet. However, I loved being able to pose that part of the anatomy and did so in a lot of my nudes. It isn't such a static object in real life and I loved being able to make adjustments and pose it. Can't do that with G3M.

to G8M for sure. Poor V8, five month with a borrowed boyfriend that can achieve her level of emotions...typical in some couples...
Maybe someone will make a G8 female male morph in the meantime.. I actually found Nalin kind of useful, although not sure if it would sell well.
I wouldn't consider it bad news that it took 5-6 or more months to start from scratch rather than slapping one together in 2-3 or trying to do two at once and the the male inherits the mistakes from the female.
My question is, "how many G8 Females will get released between now and G8M?" I did find the onslaught of G3Fs before G3M a bit obnoxious.

It will probably be the same considering the amount of sales females have vs males. Customers are willing to pay for that, so I don't think you'll get anything different. I know folks are impatient, but consider this:
If something that is odd about V8, what are the odds that there will be a product released by vendors to address it. If it happens in the male, would the same scenario happen? The answer (if previous generations hold true) is that it won't so time needs to be taken to get M8 as self suffient as possible, as the money isn't there for those type of products for males.
The poor males are doubly disadvantaged. They get less time on the market to begin with because they're released later, and then everybody has months of advance warning before a new figure arrives, so they'll stop buying the 'old' figure. I realise demand is much less anyway, but the release timings can't help either.
I'm still buying Genesis 3 males and will if they are sufficiently different right up to the release of m7. Being able to use skins on Genesis 8 keeps this content viable.
Not that I think she's a model, but I think V8 is the most realistic AND the most beautiful yet. I hope M8 is good looking too, he hasn't been in many generations.
yes and I hope we see more support this time. The support for g3 was pretty abysmal, with some categories yielding only 3 or 4 items even now at the end of the generation's run.
If the pattern for Genesis 8 is the same as what happened to Genesis 3, then there will be exactly one more G3M base figure between now and the release of M8. Last time around that figure was Scott 6, so maybe a Scott 7?
Leo 7 seemed to fill the Scott niche. I'm not sure Scott was a good seller. I will buy any male release as long as it isn't a teen and I would buy Scott 7 too At least we might get sci-fi content instead of all the roman barbarian stuff.
To be honest I'm done with G3M so I'm playing some Diablo III until then. Sales isn't worth me putting out interim content... but if you want some unique G3M shapes with jcms for bends and HD anatomical elements, you just need to double back to what's already there in my store... no need to put out more than that this generation; I covered what I pretty much wanted to this generation ending with Coen and Jalen. If you didn't get those, you missed out on HD gens veins ;)
What I hope is that this time around DAZ goes back to the unimesh that they developed for gen4, and stop issuing unique UVs that only get used for one skin. It took a while for the PAs to stop playing along and building skins to the new UVs, but it was fairly early in gen7 that they seem to have thrown in the towel and gone back to building everything on the base UV for the generation instead of the character morph.
The end result seems to be a generation and a half of orphaned UVs. Some of those skins are very nice, and people would like to use them. But they will need to go to 3rd party converters and work-arounds to do so.

Actually most of the unique UVs are not even supported by 3rd party converters. However how can always use an option that is free, and supported inside DS, namely Map Transfer.
Actually, after thinking about it, I want G8M and M8 to come out in December... December 1st will be fine. Any birthday money checks should have arrived by then. :)
I'll agree with male-m3dia on this one, however the textures were a bit lacking on most.
But, a few months ago, I made a decision not to move to G8 unless there was something radically brilliant with it. I've become attached to the characters that I've created and there's very little room left in my cupboard for more. Plus, I can't justify the expense, at the moment.
I don't know what I'd do without the Wear Them All addon for G3F. The only clothes she can't wear are... G3M's! What's up with that? Will G8F have this same problem?
There is a DAZ Original product for that called Cross Figure. For G8M / G8F, my guess would be that Cross Figure, like much other 'clone' and 'autofit' functionality that one had to purchase seperately in the past will now be a part of all DAZ Genesis figures by default. After all that's just basic respect for your customers. The customers should only be buying the models (characters, clothing, hair, ...), not cludges that make the models work. I would think I've spent as much or more money on cludges than actual DAZ models and as most of those are PA or offsite cludges it is money not spent on DAZ Originals.
Instead M8, I would prefer the "Genesis 8 Male Essentials" with the G3M Skin compatibility as G8 has vs G3F, the "G8M Head Male Morphs", G8M Body Morphs and expression. At the end M8 is only a character.
