Although I remember him as Dorfman in "Animal House" (which I related to quite well because that movie came out when I was in college), I remember him best as Vir Coto in Babylon 5, because despite his character's subservient naivete' he ended up being emperor in the end.
...yeah Animal House comes to my mind right away, but liked him more as Vir. He was sort of Londo's "conscience".
I met him at a sci-fi TV con I used to work at. He was a very nice man. This is sad news.
Bummer...first Batman and now Vir...
Michael O'Hare, Andreas Katsulas, Jeff Conaway, Richard Biggs, Jerry Doyle, Tim Choate, and now Stephen Furst...
Such a great ensemble. Too many of them have left us too early!
Stephen has moved on to the place where no shadows fall. R.I.P. Stephen!
...Commander SInclair, G'Kar, Zack Allan, Dr. Franklin, "Mr." Garibaldi, Zathras, and Vir. A lot old friends made the final pass through the stargate.
Sheets!?! Micheal O'Hare died too? Almost 5 years ago?!? Hell. How did I miss that one? Damn. I also met him (and Jeff Conaway) at one of the same TV cons. He was flakey and fabulous. Crap. I'm going to bed.
This is very sad news. Vir Coto was one of B5's most memorable characters. He seemed like a bumbler but always delivered in the end. I remember the scene where he confronts Mr. Morden and predicts that he will end up with his head on a pike. The prediction come true. When his boss bungles the assassination of the mad-dog emperor Cartagia, it's Vir who ends up doing the job.
Alex.
Rest in peace you moon faced assassin of joy! (sad face)
Oh crap. I know it wasn't him, but Vir was such a wonderful character and some of that must have bubbled up from the person portraying him.
My condolences to all his family and those who knew him.
To mis-quote:
"He has become one with the universe"
"He's passed away"
"That too"
we've lost so many lately was thinking the other day a friend of mine would look good as his character Vir Coto from Babylon 5 thought he was a great character clip from B5 when his wish came true
Well appparently Stephen was in Animal House. NBC News noted the role, but failed to mention what I think was Stephen's most enduring and interesting roles (B5). Heck, he's been a part of B5 for a long while, even after the 5 seasons ended.
I'm sure his movie roles (non B5) were good too, but I think he put the most 'hours' into B5.
Mind you, Animal House is a fun movie, and I'm sure he enjoyed being part of it too.
You just stuck Peter Jurasik's Londo voice in my head with this. Those two had such fun banter with each other on B5!
We'll miss you, Stephen!
