    Does Photoshop actually stop working?

Yes.  I have no access to it at all.I can load it but I can't use it.  THIS is why I held out for over a year before trying it.  I am re downloading Elements 13 and I actually think I have Krita, I didn't realize it could work like photoshop the last time I used it I used it for painting. And I know that Gimp is also a fairly good substitude but the photoshop interface was more intuitive to me.  But I will suck it up and learn if I have to lol.  I am so angry and frustrated at this point its just not even worth it.  I contacted them on Facebook, the guy said he would have someone call before the end of the day on Friday and guess what.  No phone call, and no response when I mentioned no phone call.

Does anyone know if the NIK filters work with Elements?  And Filter Forge?

I can't say about Filter Forge but Nik Elements even works with Gimp & Photoshop Essentials (or is it Elements?) version 9

Glad I could help Diomede.  I have 11 as well as 13 (I upgraded a couple years ago).  No worries, I will use my $10.96 a month and put it to good use lol.

I'm reinstalling Elements 13 as I speak.  Its just not worth the irritation.

...Autodesk has also phased out perpetual licences and only offers a subscription option for 3DS Max as well:  Monthly at 180$, Annual at 1,470$, or 3 Years at 4,410$.  Still not for the faint of wallet.

You can install PS brushes into Paint Shop Pro, which I use instead. Also Nik filters and Filter Forge work with it as well.

i find Psp is just as good as PS.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I've loaded my Elements program and will not be going back to the paid plan.  I will use my extra $120.00 a year for something.

    Probably lol.

I have to give an update, after 5 days and SIX conversation and a lot of persistence, Adobe has finally fixed the issue on my end.  They are giving me three months free, so I am going to use those three months then re evaluate if the hassle was worth it.  I will most likely cancel then but at least they finally did the right thing. So my advice after all of this is this.  If you are going to go with the subcription, and you have a problem, don't give up, and insist on talking to someone in the back office.  Also, go to Adobe on Facebook and post about it there.  The guy who answers over there was actually the most helpful in getting this resolved.

I have no problem using the NIK filters and Filter Forge with Elements 11, but that's the newest version I have.  In fact, I can't get the Nik filters to work with my PS CC.  Elements is good software.  If it had Camera Raw I wouldn't bother with the CC subscription.

I also have camera RAW with PS Elements 9. You need to go to the Adobe Website and download the patch to fix your RAW support.
