Previous generation characters as G8

Someone told me that there was a way to manually transfer morphs of previous generation characters into another generation.
So for example, I could have the Belle 6 character shape from G2 as a G8 character.
Could someone point me in the direction of any documentation or tutorial on how to do this?
Thank you! :)

There was one thread about the manual stuff a while ago, and I'm not sure if it will be of use: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24093/transferring-morphs-from-genesis-to-g2m-g2f-and-from-g2m-g2f-to-genesis-now-with-clones/p1
They're advertising "more backwards compatability"-- does that mean right out of the box, or do we have to (groan) buy yet more stuff?
Thank you so much! (I haven't read or tried it yet, so I don't know how well it will turn out, but I will take a look at this thread.)
As far as I can tell so far, it's only for clothes and hair.
From what I read in the other thread, and in the ad, it is backwards compatible for clothes (as it already has all the neccessary clones which you usually had to buy, and it can use G3 skin. Poses, not so much (because of a different base pose). Also, G8 stuff won't be compatible if you want to use it on G3, G2, G1 and M/V4.
And skin-- she has the same UVs as Genesis 3 Female.
The clones are already there for Gen Gen3 and Gen3 both male and female.
Here is G3M... he has alien fingers though. I am sure there is a setting to fix it.
The alien fingers look so weird. Very strange! Do you have the latest version of Daz Studio?
Yep latest version just downloaded. I am sure it is a clone/morph setting they forgot about.
So all the new G8F clothes about to flood the marketplace will be useless for G3F?
So that people don't get confused, the alien fingers are happening when you use the clones to convert Genesis 8 to a Genesis 3 male. If you use them to autofit G3M clothes, the fingers are not distorted.
You'd have to create a G8 clone for G3F, or wait until a PA makes a clone set.
I think you may need to reinstall Genesis 8 on your computer. I tried dialing in the G3M clone, also using the latest version, and the fingers were fine.
No, as I 've said in reply to soem of your other posts this is a clone, it isn't a shape intended to be used in a scene (and there are different requirements for clones and usable sahpes - not a question of something being left out in error).
Doesn't Genx2 also do this?
That's what I needed to know, thank you. So in order to use my G1 and V4 skins, I will have to use the batch converters to convert to G2, then purchase the G2 to G3 converters, and THEN I can use these older skins on G8.
It does up until G3. But the author of GenX sadly passed away recently, so whether we'll see a G8 version is unknown at this point.
I just transfered a FaceGen morph from G3F to G8F and it works, here is a copy of a post with a link I made in another thread:

Thanks very much.
I just transferred a FaceGen G3F morph to a G3F morph very easily using SickleYield's tutorial.
It is listed under Head as per her instructions and I did set limits on it in the slider section to 100%.
SickleYield Character Morph Transfer Tutorial
I tried to do the other tutorials elsewhere but the were to vague or the DS UI had changed or lot's of little caveats. The one linked to above still works & is very quick & concise.
I was going to make a PDF with screen captures for you but after doing Sickle yield's tutorial there wasn't much point as it is more concise and enough but for all but beginner DAZ Studio users. If you like I can still make a screenshot tutorial though.

Did you Adjust Rigging To Shape?
Depends on the converter. I think you might be able to do it with Blacksmith3d, but the Cyaman Studios Legacy UV adaptors all use custom geografts to cover the areas where the geometry doesn't match, and since G8's geometry is different from G3's, it's probably not going to be a perfect solution. In fact, I'm pretty sure someone posted a test earlier and the seams didn't match. Of course, for all I know, Cayman Studios is already working on G1, G2 and V4 Legacy grafts for G8.
Bookmarked for future use. Thank you! :)
A screenshot tutorial would be great for transfering morphs. Having trouble with body morphs at the moment and weird distortions.
Has anyone used Adjust Rigging to Shape to fix any of the "alien fingers" issues? If so, pics would be great. :)
Using that command on the Clone itself may well interfere with its function in converting clothing - and will be overwritten by any update to the base figure.
Well I have rendering running now & am gone later today but I will practice Redz tutorial & SickleYields & do screen shot versions of them starting Sunday. Ciao
