There seems to be a fairly easy fix for G3F poses when applied to G8F (well it's simple to me and hopefully I can explain it properly). First apply the G3F pose and you will get the problem that Ati had at the start of this thread. Next go to each Shoulder Bend on the figure and bend the shoulder OUT (away from the torso) by 45. So whatever the value in 'Bend' for 'Left Shoulder Bend you add 45 to it and for the 'Right Shoulder Bend' you alter whatever the value in 'Bend' is by -45. That should get the arms pretty much in place (you may still need to tweak them a little depending on the pose.). What you may not have noticed until now is that the legs are also out of position. Again it's easily fixed by going to the Thigh Bend on the figure and moving the legs together by 6 using the Side-Side values. So for 'Left Thigh Bend' you change the value of the 'Side-Side slider by -6 and for the 'Right Thigh Bend' you change the value of the 'Side-Side slider by +6. Again you may need to tweak things a little to get it exact. I hope that makes sense. Basically it looks like it is the A-Pose that G8F has as it's default that is throwing the G3F poses out. I don't think this works for any other figures pose but if you can convert them to G3F I would imagine my fix will work then as well.
Example: By applying the fix above I was able to use 'Action Girl For Genesis 3 Female' pose 'Action 30 Defalt' on G8F.
And of course then reverse is also true. If you want to use G*F poses with G£F then you apply the fix the opposite way round by moving the arms in towards the torso and the legs out from each other.
Thank you. That really helps a lot. Thankfully then the differences are not that large. This could probably be fixed by a quick script. When I have time, I´ll look into it :D
Product thread is now open https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/173671/genesis-3-to-genesis-8-pose-converter-commercial#latest
Just an idea: some pose sets for G3F/V7 have a "Reset" or "Zero pose" (zeddicus include those, for example).
So, maybe applying one of those resets to G8F/V8 (to get the "old" default pose) and then the actual pose might do the trick...
Would test that myself but I'm not on my DAZ Studio computer...
I was hopeing someone would say that!
I'm always impressed by the people who make scripts, when I look at the code it scares the heck out of me! Mind you the last time I was anywhere near being able to code anything it was using Sinclair Basic on a Spectrum!! LOL
Do we know if V8 works with G2 poses? That was one of the big sticking points for me in going to G3.
Not really. The fix is much more complicated than G3F to G8F unfortunately. You'd really need to use one of the conversion scripts like Zev0's to change the G2F poses to G3F first.
If the joints are basically the same and there aren't fewer body parts, and the difference is just the zeroed pose, then it is trivial to write a script to apply to G8F after applying a G3F pose that will add/subtract as needed from the affected joint rotations. Even i can write one, like I did for correcting V4 poses applied to Genesis and put up on ShareCG years ago, and I can't even write scripts in any meaningful way. In fact I could just take that script and edit, removing/adding lines for affected joints with G3F as opposed to V4>Genesis and entering the right adjustments.
Actually I'll do it, if I decide I wan to go to G8F, which I'm not convinced of yet as they haven't fixed THE thing about Genesis 3 that to me was a serious design error and has prevented me from making a G3F version of my most important character.
The pose converter script I can't write and woulld really, really like - which would have me buying many, many more G3F and M pose sets than I have - is one to convert G3F/M poses to G2F/M. SAdly if anyone has made one I haven't seen it.
Are you using DS 4.9.4.115 or later? That is required for all the features to work.
Thanks, I'll take a look at that conversion script.
Would a JCM not achieve this?
IMO, neither look natural. The G8 pose is actually TOO relaxed, and too smooth. I just lifted my arm in the mirror, and it looks closer to the G3 than G8, perhaps in between. Maybe it is hard to see with the Silver Surfer skin you have, but that's what I see.
are the eyelashes geografts?
Ah come on. Again breaking old content, again having to wait for and purchase conversion tools? It started so well with that you included clones this time and now this. I don't buy that explanation for the A-pose as well. Not cool. :-(
