Question about Character Selection

I have several character sets that were designed for V7.  When choosing any of them for a scene, is it necessary to load V7 first, and then apply the character morphs, or can I just load the characters straight into the scene?

I've always found the individual characters "behave" better when loaded from the Characters tab rather than loading G3 and then appying the character.

Since I never use any of the default character morphs that come with a package, let me understand better. Just clicking the character icon and loading the full characater at once, correct? If so, no, you don't need to load V7. V7 is just a morph in the list you have for genesis 3 female and that morph will usually activate when you load the character.

My thanks to both of you.  That's exactly what I wanted to know.

However, if depends on how the figure was built. Some may require you to load G3F first then apply the morphs. It will be easy to tel . If you need to load G3F first and your double click the figure morph on an empty viewport, you'll get an error.

Also, if its not marked actor in the thumbnail and called something else, like follower or morph, those, you have to load G3F first.  If it says Actor, no need to do anything but double click on the icon.

    Ooh, great tip!  Thanks!  :)

Not sure if you know this or not, but you don't have to have the base character most of the time (of course, you have to have g3f) like character for Rune, Olympia etc.  They will still work, they will just look slightly different.  I have several characters that I do not have the base for other than g3f and they are beautiful even without the base.  If you aren't sure if you will like them, you can always ask in the forums if someone will do a quick render with the base character dialed out.  Lots of us are more than willing to throw something together for someone.

I don't know whether I've always done this the wrong way but I almost never load a character. I usually start with the base G3F and dial in precentages of the character(s). Then I will play with other idals for muscle tone, weight, facial details, etc.
