HDR Image looks too large...

Hi all,

I am still quite new to HDR techniques so I am at a loss with figuring out how to scale an HDR to fit the model.

In the attached render, I plunked a G3F into the middle of the scene and placed an HDR image in the background environment,The background seems too large, How do I make the HDRI appear smaller in scale with the G3F?

Thanks!

    Change the HDRI from infinite sphere to finite sphere in Render Settings. Then adjust the Dome Scale Modifier (I think that is the correct control name. I'm not at my computer now.)

    Was looking for the same solution the other day, so I just tried this, didn't seem to make a difference. tried a few other settings since i was fiddling, nothing made it smaller

    The name of the control is actually "Domne Scale Multiplier". It needs to be adjusted a lot to make a visible difference some times. Try setting it to 10 instead of 100. You should see a difference.

    I just tried it and it seemed to work for me.

    I set the multiplier down to 4.5 but I also used finite box which made a difference. 4.5 for finite sphere didn't seem to do anything for me...

    Thanks!

    You can also use a zoom camera which brings the HDR background nearer the objects in the scene. With an HDRI and a default camera which is 65 mm when you pull the camera back the HDR image stays the same but the object shrinks, with a zoom camera the object can be framed at the aspect you want and the HDRI will remain at the right resolution.

    What stood out more for me in the first image was the fact her heels didn't sink into the grass. :)

    Last image looks good for scale.

    @nicstt

    That's the beauty of being 3D mesh i guess- being immune to gravity... No high heel sinkage in grass, mud, quicksand, water, air.. haha!

    @Fishtales

    Thanks for that tidbit - all I ever use is a default camera so I will try a zoom camera as you mentioned!
