Is Fast Grab right?

OK, I know you sometimes have to fast for Fast Grab. But yesterday a number of new items were introduced into Fast Grab and with the weekend they normally would have been up for a couple of days. But, No, they lasted less than a whole day and were all lost with the changeover at DAZ midnight. Only the items that had already been in Fast Grab remain.

Is this intentional or is it a glitch?

Can you give me the names of some of the products so I can check?

I don't remember most of them but this is one from Fast Grab that was added yesterday and lost at the changeover: https://www.daz3d.com/subway-train . I remember it because I was planning on getting it and had it in my cart.

Overall with the new items added yesterday Fast Grab was up to 50 or so items and now it is back to the 15 or so items that were already there before the new items were added.

There were at least two more from Polish, that I recall: https://www.daz3d.com/the-velo and https://www.daz3d.com/the-splinter.

I grabbed that train quite fast, this often happens, it's what fast grab means. cheeky

The slow grope items stay there to lull you into complacency. laugh

you would think the ones that have been there for the whole week would disappear and the new ones that were added would remain...but no such luck!

I thought DAZ had to have your permission to do Fast Grab? (I can certainly understand not wanting that 70% off.)

Yeah, Fast Grab is really random.  A couple of the items there have been there for weeks now, while others may stick around only for a couple of hours.  While the average seems to float between a day or two, my advice is, if you see something you want in Fast Grab, grab it then (unless you think you can get a better deal later) because it may not be there later.

Also keep in mind that an item in Fast Grab may appear in a future sale, flash sale, or fast grab, so if you don't need it right then, take a look at the sales history (if you have the Daz Deals plugin) to see if this is the best price it's been in a while.  If it goes on sale fairly often, you may be able to wait, but if this is the best price in many months, yeah that may be your best opportunity for a good deal on that product.

I've come to rely on sales more than Fast Grab these days (if the sales prices approach/exceed 70%), but I'll ocassionally snag a fast grab.

I'll say once again that I'd REALLY love to see the Daz sales team being really clear on how long an item my be on sale. Daz's com[petitors do this, and a significant number of customers have pretty much moved on from the Daz store to other stores for most of their purchases because the 'not knowing' can be very frustrating.

I get that mistakes are made, and that they can't do this in every cases, but in most cases they should know in advance how long an item is supposed to be on sale, and us customers can make better use of the sales with that information as well.

Yep. I just sort of missed out on the Subway Train. I had it in my cart and wasn't too worried about it because I thought it would be there long enough for me to decide if I really needed it and also to see what new sale there might be that I would also want. Clearly, I was wrong. Oh well. It will probably be on sale again at least in the PA sale  and maybe or maybe not I'll still be interested in it. Meanwhile, I'm just scrapping doing a subway project.

AFAIK it's the vendors themselves that put their products up.

I have been told by staff that FG items are set to a limited number of sales and disappear after that number is sold. It may not be the same number for all items.

My fastgrab features mostly genesis 3 female stuff, an older model spaceship, and that's about it. Nothing excing to see I'm afraid. I didn't buy it when it was released, and I'm still not buying it now.

That's how fast grabs always worked.  Though I distinctly remember long ago, they had a status bar on the product page letting you know how many where left at that price.

I would love to see something along those lines (again) here on Daz.  Amazon has 'only a few copies left' warnings on their product pages, which I find very helpful when making buying decisions there.

I get that Daz might not want to share hard numbers, but a warning when a fast grab sale item is down to the last few copies would be awesome.

Fast grab was fun in the old days,  but also very frustrating when you had got all the way to the pay now screen and got told  "sorry sold out"    You had two things to beat in those days,  the number of items available at that price and the time left on the clock.

It never showed numbers, just a progress bar showing a graphical representation of how many where left.

Yeah guys, I understood that the progress bar didn't show numbers. I was just pointing out that 'only a few copies are left' at Amazon works very effectively.  Amazon often goes as far as saying 'only 15 left in stock, order soon.'

A couple of other things I"ve seen done elsewhere is either 'locking down' a copy for five minutes if you add it to your cart, to give you time to complete the purchase (this clock may NOT reset after the first time you add it to the cart, to prevent abuse), and a 'sold out' warning in the shopping cart if the last copy is sold.  Sure, the price will jump in the cart if the 'on sale copies' run out, but without without the visual warning you may miss this, or may not understand why you didn't get the sale price.

Yes software packages (without associated media) are an intangible item, so Daz doesn't have 'physical' stock to keep track of, but the concept is essentially the same.  'We have x copies at this price, once those run out we have more copies at this other price'..

That would be cool to see again, I like challenges like that. Make it 80% and up and give a limted time and/or number sold and the race is on to see who gets the best deal, LOL

You would think so,  @Novica  The general rule is,  PA sends a note which products from your catalog you want to submit to fastgrab.  That's the end of the PAs input.  Marketing department then decides what mix of products and for what length of time.  I never sent a note.  But there's a few products of mine in there now.  They're older,  so I'll not raise the issue.  But if they were newer than a couple years,  I'd politely asked them to be removed.
