EULA and Game Developer License

Okay, I think I just read the most confusing thread about this game developer license business that I've ever read.  I'm trying to just understand it, to see what exactly all these licenses grant.

So, this is what I understand as far as usage:

Most content EULA grant the customer the right to use content bought in media such as artwork, book covers, graphic novels and comics, and indie movies and such, but not for things like 3D prints for commercial gain or game development.

You have to purchase seperate licenses or get permission to use content in games or for 3D print commercial endeavors...and permission from each vendor.

Is that about right?  Because I just want to know if I need permission to do an animated short film or promo using Daz content.  I believe it's okay for something like that but just want to be sure.

On a side note, can you make 3D prints to give away or is that still not allowed?

Maybe there's a less confusing thread that explains all of this.  And I've read the EULA and it's about as clear as muddy water in some parts.

    Pretty well sums it up.

You can only make 3D prints for personal use, cannot be redistributed.

Films or promo images are fine with DAZ content. The biggest reason I can see for needing a license for game development is that there are way too many apps that can be used to rip content (mesh, textures, even rigging) from games and any media using the same tech. If you are into developing games, try Morph3D

Just to clarify, you can use DAZ content in game without buying a game license as long as it's pre-rendered stuff. So if you don't distribute the mesh, textures, etc. and only have pre-rendered images, it's fine. So a 2D platformer would be ok for example. Visual novel game is ok. Isometric view with pre-rendered characters is ok (diablo 2 style).

For me, what I find confusing is that I don't know if I have to get a game license from ALL vendors listed. The EULA seems to indicate you only need a license from ONE of the vendors, but I'm propably reading that wrong. Anyone know?

If "DAZ Originals" is one of the vendors you only need the Daz license; for a non-Daz Original you should submit a help ticket to find out.
