    Greetings,

So with Skyler and others, I've often found that I need to take the outfits into Hexagon to tweak them, because the polygons move around a good bit, mostly in the chests.  A classic example of this is a t-shirt with horizontal lines across it, that turns into an absolute mess when you put it on Skyler.  Another was a shirt with a heart that turned into an abstract drawing.  I haven't had as much trouble with pants or skirts, except the waistline tends to go wavy.

Anyway, I took the JeanZ Skirt into Hexagon, and about 30 seconds later had this:

Thanks to the Hexagon bridge, it's just a matter of sending it to Hexagon, rotating it a little bit so you can see the front, pulling up the Soften tool (under UV & Paint) and running it over the seam-line under the zipper.  You can even see the polygons being out of joint, and when you 'soften' them, they flow back together quite nicely.

It's not perfect, but that's because I didn't spend much time on it...  I know it's not something that you necessarily might want to do, but it's one of the smaller prices we pay for having an infinite number of morphs for the underlying characters.  Clothes pretty much can't perfectly fit everything.  (It's also possible using something like VWD for dynamics might also help the textures unstretch, but I haven't tried yet...)

Hope that helps; I think I can do a video walkthrough if it'd help.

    --  Morgan

p.s. As for G2F it's got the same problem; mostly with t-shirts, again, because the chest area gets so deeply changed.

Thanks for going to that effort, Morgan. Much appreciated.

I have Hexagon but have never got into it because of the constant crashing (yes - my jinx is at work again). I'll try again but I'm not sure why I had problems with Blender doing essentially the same thing.

Any hints on how to stop Hexagon crashing would be appreciated.

Can you install more ram? I got a new computer with twice the ram, (32GB from 16GB,) and I haven't had Hexagon crash on me since.

I also have 32GB. I seem to remember there was a setting in the preferences that people recommended but I never got around to trying it and can't remember what it was.

Do not forget, that Hexagon is a 32 bit application, so it can use up to 2 GB of RAM (may be 3 GB with Large Address Aware),

so more RAM does not help so much.

Just wanted everyone know that the release of the JeanZ Skirt for Genesis 3 Female is imminent!

First a couple of things about the previous version, JeanZ Skirt for Genesis and Genesis 2.  The new version has new UV mapping on the skirt.  There is a free update to allow the older skirt to use textures based on the new mapping.  It includes the new UV's plus a preset to apply the UV's after you have applied a new texture preset to it.  Second if you have already purchased the previous version you should see an additional discount!

Now onto my latest release of  the JeanZ Skirt for Genesis 3 Female.  There are a large number of improvements in addition to the conversion to the Genesis 3 Female.  In no particular order:

    • New - UV mapping on the skirt which allows higher resolution textures and reduced distortion.
    • Support of legacy skirt textures.  Just apply a preset to switch to the old UV mapping.
    • Still compatiable with third party textures though the materials on the buttons on the blouse may have to be applyed manually
    • Older textures have been updated to Iray support.
    • New - three denim skirt textures in both 3delight and Iray.
    • New - plain textures for the blouse with sheer and shimmer options (last two are Iray only).
    • Buttons on the blouse are now rigid followers which means no distortion and easier adjustment when posing.
    • New -  HD morph wrinkles on both the blouse and skirt which can be indepentently utilized to look better with different poses.
    • New - RealFit HD morphs for Genesis 3 Female to be used with the skirt.
    • New - A bunch of new open morphs on the blouse and skirt!

    Cheers!

Did you render your female with a flat booty on purpose? How will it do with a JLo booty?

My appologies for the delay in replying to the thread.  My son is getting married today and we have been a little busy.

The one with the red blouse does have some junk in the trunk, but I guess I got lazy on the promos.   Did manage to set up some renders last night.  I don't have a JLo morph but here are some images with some ample booty :D  Some are supported with hand built morphs, the pear and weight are autofit with a little smoothing applied.

Seems to be a general problem with scaled down G3 characters. I've noticed it with 3DUs Haley and Skyler, when using other pants than those that are included with them. Some samples:

Sorry, but I don't remember this being such an issue with Genesis and G2F. I have the G3 JeanZ (pants) too and have now found the same problem with the seams although not so bad on males and the morph for the back seam is more effective.

So I went and bought the Growing Up 3 set, someone owes me $20 LOL j/k.  Anyway wanted to see what I could do with it.  As I mentioned before I did have to make the morphs for the supported characters, due in part to the center issues.  Also I generally am never satisified with the autofit created morphs.  So I did find that applying smoothing can help things.  It seems to also help with other morphs as well if you get a little agressive with it.  Hope this helps!

Hexagon used to crash for me all the time also, years ago, but that hasn't been true for at least a year, and probably more.  I don't do a lot inside it, mind you, mainly just bridge items to Hexagon, soften them up, and bridge them back.  I have 32GB of RAM, but even when I had only 8, it wasn't that bad.  I can imagine that if you're trying to model in it, that you get into situations that are more problematic.  I do (also) have Windows 10, which is a surprisingly stable OS.

Still, on my Mac and my Windows box, Hexagon (while having some odd visual issues) doesn't really crash when I'm fixing up clothes.

Yesterday, spurred by this thread, I put the skirt on a young teen model, smoothed it in Hexagon and sent it back, applied the created morph, put a t-shirt on the character, sent it through VirtualWorld Dynamics to hang better, then sent the result of THAT back into Hexagon to fix texture stretch from both the dynamics and being on a younger character, and it all worked really well.  There are dark paths you can go down (with VWD, stopping the script when it's up can crash DAZ Studio, with Hexagon, messing with complicated objects might do it), but in day-to-day use it's really not that bad.

  • Beautiful work on the new Jeanz skirt.  I do have one small request.  If you ever do an updae on it add a few morphs to pull the skirt up.  Your skirt made me think of a skirt that my girlfreind used to wear.  She loved to drink beer and would regularly hike up her skirt and releive herself of said beer when she was inebriated at lake parties (she also used to not wear underwear with this particular skirt either).  This outfit brought back some memories of partying in the late seventies (yes I'm that old) with a beautiful girl.  It is a nice addition to my runtime.

Can confirm the discount no longer shows up in the cart. I was waiting to get paid on a job and... well, shouldn't have waited. Obviously.

The hiking morph wold be very nice but, now that you are doing the Real Fit items, have you given any thought to doing some generic pressure morphs? Like thigh indents at different heights, waistlines, strap pressures, etc? That would really add realism to a lot of images and, depending on variety, could really help with some outfits. I mean, obviously, custom morphs for any given outfit would give a better result, but a generic solution would be a day one purchase.

Have you visited my Facebook page?  I posted a preview of my next release, you might like it ;)  You don't need a Facebook account to see it, though they do have a nag screen.  When it gets closer to release time I may start a thread here.

    Cheers!
