Question about TerraDome 3

Hello My Artistic Friends,

I just purchased TerraDome 3 and have much to learn about it but is there a way to place footprints of people and animals on the ground terrain?

    You could try Reprojector: https://www.daz3d.com/simtenero-shape-reprojector

Also there is Nerd3D's Footsteps Tool over at the H site

Thank you for the links, I need to look these over real good, Not sure if they will work on the ground terrain in Terradome 3 but they would be nice to have anyway. Thank you for taking the time to post them smiley

I don't think the mesh would be fine enough to deform. Your best bet would be a decal with bump and/or Normal, or to include a small patch of deformed ground and work it into the terrain.

    Maybe subdivide it ???

Yeah, but it's a flipping HUGE object. Subdividing it enough for footprints to show up right will bring any home computer to its knees.

    Hi,

The topic of this thread is also something I've had questions about as well. I tried to achieve this effect in a recent render and finally gave up and did it in postwork. @timmins.william your suggestions sound like great ideas. However, I'm trying to figure out how to accomplish the decal suggestion. With a geoshell? Also if one were to deform some ground, would you recommend using Blender for deforming? Thank you smiley

    Note: Edited for clarification

  • Ummm, This is Interesting,

I once made a round water ripple many years ago, An semi flat OBJ that I wanted to use around the legs of a horse walking through shallow water. At the time, there was no such thing for this. It actualy came out pretty good. Used it in one of my scenes called Noble Beast.

What Im wondering is if I make obj footprints like I did that water ripple, If I can just place then on the ground and match the textures. Problem I wonder about is if the terrain will go through the downward slopes of the footprint. Guess I might be able to morph the terrain in that location downward so this does not happen, I just dont know, would have to be very small morphs. I just got this and not sure the dynamics of the terrain
