Daz3d applications ... text so small can't read it at arms length

The text is so small I have to constantly lean forward to read it, in Daz3d studio.

I use Iclone and text sizes can be modified click the 1st attachment of Iclone below to increase the sceen for you to see my IClone view screen.

See the attachment where you can reset in Iclone preferences.

I use Daz3d alot and I've tried just about everything

After several hours on working with the Daz3d screens everything begins to look like everything else

I must view very carefully.

Sure would appreciate, if Daz would think about providing some tools for us visually impared .

I realize there are plenty of users that are content with the current text sizes.

Those persons read more at a glance and discern the text accurately.

I'm getting it done, but eye strain does take  its tool after several hours and I have to change my work to other software at those times.

I don't feel handicapped, but physical limitations can make things difficult.

I have 2 each 24" monitors -  I use 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Agreed. 2 ea 27" at 1920X1200, and even though 4.9 is a great improvement over 4.8 (in this one area) the lettering is still too small for comfort. I, too, would like to be able to scale it for my personal preference.

Add to that and some text is gray so it blends in with the background.  Makes it hard to see.

This topic has come up a couple of times, usually in conjunction with a newly purchased 4K monitor.

DAZ is aware of the issue and is working on it. But this is a massively non-trivial update - the current QT 4.5 toolkit (the software that draws all  the menus, windows, tabs and such, then puts text on/in them) has to be replaced with the QT version 5+ toolkit. Many of the draw functions changed between 4.5 and 5 (among other things, to allow for text size and font specification) so this will be a very major code change to Studio. And, among other things, all the 3rd party plugins will need to be rebuilt as part of the change.

My personal guess is that DAZ Studio version 5 will be the first appearance of QT 5, and I've long ago given up on predicting when DAZ will do new software releases.

  • If you are using a Windows OS, Use the magnifier tool, That is what I have had to do. I have a 50 inch 4K television for a monitor and I have the same problem too.

I may be wrong but I think the creators of this software do not use big monitors with such fine resolution as we use. I hope someone will get around to doing something about it bui I dont think it is at the top of anyones list.

As namffuak explains above, this is a major change and is an issue because display scaling of this type was not supported in previous versions of the Qt framework. Daz is aware of this and is working on it, and has been for some time. In the meantime, DS will respect the system font scaling set in Display properties for Windows systems as a workaround.

This is true and I respect this but my resolution is even higher than lenwhilders setting at 1920 x 1080. Mine are at 3840 X 2160 and that is a native settings. At this settings Daz is the only Program where I have to use a Magnifier to read it. Even the scailing in Windows Propertys can not fix this. I own Vue, Poser and a few modeling programs, All work fine at this resolution. it is ok with me and not anyones fault, It is just that Graphics cards and Monitors are becomming more and more powerful. I was just commenting to lenwhilder as to what I do to read the type in Daz. Oh well, All is good. smiley

I appreciate the comment abut the magnifier. It is a bit confusing.  Do you have a best suggestion for using it.

     viewing window, etc.

What I have done is create a shortcut  to it on my Taskbar, Makes it simple to get too.

All you do then is click on it when you need it and it places a little  magnifier eye glass on your desktop as well as opens the maginfier. To control the maginfier, Just place your mouse on that little eye glass on desktop and you will see little arrows pointing right, that will open up your controls to it and you can adjust the size of the window in the options as well as adjust the window size and make it fat or skinny tall or short. You can control how much it magnifys too, 150% or 200% ect.. I only use it to see my library and read the type.

To close the maginfier, go back to the eye glass to close it.

This is what I use and my resolution is a bit more than yours, at 3840 X 2160.  Im stuck with a 50 inch 4k television for a monitor. It is all I have to use.

    Anyway, Hope this helps wink

Oh, You will find it in Accessories, Ease of Access

Try reading the stuff on a 1366x768 13.3" monitor!

Fortunately I have good eyesight, but yeah the black text on the dark gray background is about impossible to read (when that shows up).

Here's another vote for font size options and more text color change options in the next version!

LOL, I know. Like I have seen posted, They are aware of this problem and will address this issue but It really effects my use of Daz Studio. I do not want to go and purchase a smaller Television or monitor just to use Daz.

Have you tried out the Magnifier tool? Does it help? I can use Daz Studio with it, The only other option I have is to sit a few feet from my Television to read it. Oh well. cheeky
