  • There's not a lot of information there. Are your characters in a room or other enclosed space? Are you using the default lighting or an additional light set?

They're in an alley. So enclosed and not kinda??

And yes. Using a preset light.

    Sorry

  • An Alley scene is blocking a lot of direct light, so you are getting a lot of indirect lighting - that takes longer to converge (lack of covnergence usually shows as graininess, the pixels haven't reached their "final" colour yet and are off in different directions depending on how light paths have hit them). Adding more direct lights (and adjusting the tone mapping if you want to keep the ttoal light level down) is one option.

    Sorry Richard,

where should "more direct lights" come from?
    That's unnatural and unrealistic.

Using natural lighting means a lot of indirect light.

    That's Nature !

Otherwise you're doing fantasy-scenes, simple videos or shooting games.

So the real artist has to be patient. Set the time and convergement limits high enough and render a lot of hours or even several days.

  • Yes, waiting is of course an option - it depends on the poster's intent.

Did not realize you could set a timer for a more intense render!!

    Thanx for that!!

Since Iray was added to Studio, I have often made the observation that rendering is one of those things that is described by: "Better; Faster; Cheaper – Choose Two!"
