    Thanks to you all after half a day I rather like Windows 10 Pro. Ok the Start Button Menu irks me but I can live with it.

    Haven't tried to render anything yet as I would need DS installed. Throw my other HDD in tomorrow and start installing things. So far a nice a speedy system. Everything seems tighter and more efficient. Got the low end Corsair water cooling kit. A lot more quiet than my last piece of "insert expletive here".

    Finding my way round quicker than expected and on top of that 2 days ago I set up Christine's new Win 10 Home Laptop so I had some idea what to expect.

    I do like Scan.co.uk. If you do eveything via email/website you get a better response that phoning. Overall I can fault them for the rest.

    It's not so bad, but Windows Key X and R are still my favourite shortcuts.

    Turn off all the spyware MS call features (or just don't call  emanything on the chance you'll not notice em).

    cheers for the tips. What are these shortcuts for and how do I turn off all the spyware?

    There are some that require registry manipulation; but there are a couple of tools out there that do it all for you.

    https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10/update

    The above as an example seems like a good one; it doesn't need installing.

    I'd see what Google throws up review-wise about any you check out; also I'd prefer ones that provide keys to verify downloads.

    The real issue is that after you've configured everything, an update can reset them all; although MS have promised that shouldn't happen with the latest release - which I haven't installed yet as there was an issue some were reporting.

    I like Scan.

    I actually preferred the start menu and system in general in 8.0 to 8.1; a large start menu makes sense as when you're looking at the start menu what else is on screen rarely matters, the button takes up space, and there is the mini start menu for certain items, which is still available in 10 (Windows X, R and others which I don't use.).

    I really dislike the windows button and search box; they take up so much space;
