MilHorse textures Poser > Daz question

Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,095

I picked up Millennium Horse, which is surprisingly robust for its age. (and has a few bits that are actually better than Daz Horse 2, but other bits that are worse)

I picked up a bunch of free textures from sharecg, but... there are really obvious seams.

So my question is, is there some weirdness about how Poser handles texture maps, UVs, or are the UVs for 'millennium horse for Poser' different from Daz, or, finally, is it just that the folks making these skins weren't particularly good at it?

hey Will yeah there were some of the free textures that weren't perfect I think they were more learning experiences I fixed a number of them for personal use .I'd recommend getting the textures for the MilHorse in the store especially if you are a PC member. One thing I found is the Poser MAT files did not apply the Bump map in DS and it makes a big difference. I don't know if you are interested but I did this a while back

    Ah well.

On the other hand, the great thing about the milhorse UV map is that it's a lot easier to work with in Substance Painter2 than the Daz Horse 2 is.

Yeah, I have that and enjoyed it, though the ability to transfer zebra skin to Daz Horse 2 is a bit hampered by not actually having a Daz Horse 2 zebra morph (or straight upright mane)

I was hoping to grab all those free milhorse skins and make use of them broadly, except for the aforementioned problem. (IE: many of them aren't actually that good)

As for your original question...no, Poser doesn't handle textures or UV maps any differently than DS does ;). If the texture works in Poser, it'll work the same in DS.
