New content missing previews in Content Library

I just purchased new content for V4 via the DAZ3D online shop and installed it via the DAZ Install Manager. Unfortunately, when I go to use the content, the files appear to be there in the Content Library, however the preview pix are missing, and when I attempt to apply them to V4, I get the error, "No importer for the file format can be found." (see attached)

I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Is the folder you installed to set as a Poser Format content directory?

Okay, I got it working. I had to right-click on the folder name in the DAZ Studio Content Library interface and select "Install." Not sure why it required this extra step (I thought that was what the DAZ Install Manager was supposed to do).

While we're here, I have a similar question. How can you update the preview thumbnail images? I recently bought something I think was called Sword of Valor, a suit of armor, and it's installed and works and everything is fine when it comes to rendering. But the thumbnail image for it is just a black rectangle. I have right-clicked and clicked around in the metadata editor, but I haven't actually found an option to replace the thumbnail image.

Are you sure you are in the Content Library pane?  Install from within Studio is Connect and the generation 4 figures should not be installed by Connect.

A black rectangle sounds more like a bad/unrecognised image than a missing file. Are the thumbnails RSRs? If you want to use a different image you just need a PNG file with the same name as the content file, 91 pixels square.

Note that when you do this, you're installing using Connect, which is built into DAZ|Studio. Connect is supposed to detect an existing DIM installation and move the files (so you don't have items installed twice), but there have been complaints that this doesn't always work right.

The package is called "Knight of Valor," and apparently there's something wrong with the Install Manager package. I tried uninstalling, deleting, redownloading, and reinstalling, and I still get the black rectangle.

I discovered that the file Runtime\Support\DAZ_3D_38511_Knight_of_Valor_for_Genesis_3_Males.jpg is just a black rectangle. I changed it to a new jpg that works, and I will also file a bug report.

One commong reason is if the DIM files are not compressed, which can be fixed with the Batch Convert pane in DS.
