Using Those Elaborate scenes - Designer Bedroom

I mostly posed my figure and then I loaded the Breezeway and Balcony. It was the first one I found that seemed like it would work with my idea. It was open so I could move figure where I wanted. The next day, I wanted to finish posing my figure's hands. I selected his hand and clicked on that tool that normally zooms in on the hand really close, but instead of zooming in, it moved the figure somewhat closer, but not close enough. So then I used the scroll bar to zoom in. But then I wanted to rotate around my figure so I could see the hand from multiple directions, but that rotate tool rotates the figure like he is standing on a revolving turntable. I guess if there are multiple objects in the sceen those tools work on eveything collectively and not just the item you have selected? Is there anyway to rotate around just the figure with a set loaded?

So I deleted everything but my figure and then I was able to finish posing the figure. I went to add the balcony back but in between finding it, I came across this Designer Bedroom. I loaded it. Basically you are inside an enclosed cube. There was no way to hide a wall or the ceiling. You could hide the entire room, but that didn't help with positioning the figure. There were 7 cameras that focused on various parts of the room. So I tried to work with that. But it was too dark to see in there and going to the windows menu and turning on that posing light didn't seem to do anything. Apparently there were some lights in the room, but there were none listed in the scene outline. I say that because if you do a render, there is some light, but it wasn't light enough for me to tell if my figure was on the floor above the floor or through the floor and I didn't want to wait a long time just to find out my figure was stuck inside a glass wall or something.. So I ended up deleting that set and going back to the breezeway and using it instead.

So is there some trick to using these sets that I'm clueless about. Maybe there's a help file for the Designer bedroom. I'll try to look for it. But any suggestions are welcome.

To rotate around the figure you are working on, use the perspective view, that way your camera stays put and nothing in your scene moves. To zoom in/out, use the mouse wheel. if you can't select a single wall in the scene tab, use the gemometry editor and select the polys you want to hide and hide them, really pretty easy once you do it a couple of times. On the lights, many times you can look in the camera menu and see the lights in the scene and select them for better movement and placement.

Ctrl L will give you a preview light to help move around a scene. The preview light won't be used or seen in the render.

Thanks. I checked for a help file on the Designer Bedroom, but I didn't find one. I'll take another look at it and see if something is hidden in a subfolder, but I did open some of them. If that doesn't work, then I'll hide some of the geometry as you suggest, FSMCDesigns.

I did try turning on the preview light, but nothing lit up. I presume that is because we were inside a box (room with a ceiling and four walls and a floor). I didn't see any lights listed. I even explored the product on the product tab. But I didn't check on the camera tab. I think there must have been some objects in the scene that had emission set as there was some light on a test render. But there was not enough light for me to pose or place my figure.

But maybe I'm just missing something. I'll try again.

I also thought I had switched back to the perspective view and it was still wonky. But maybe I just got frustrated and confused. I'll try it again.

Not sure if this could have had an impact, but I first had the breezeway balcony set in my scene. Then I deleted it and added the Designer Bedroom, then I deleted that and went back the breezeway.

I just had a look at the Designer Bedroom and it doesn't come with any lights, so you will have to add some. For realism, select the light sources in the scene and add an emmisive shader and play with the settings in interactive preview mode till it/they gives off enough light for the scene. The Designer Bedroom has a read me file posted on it's product page

I just checked that product and I have it in my wishlist. Are you saying all those tiny lights on those hanging things and the lights in the bathroom sink fixture area are not included and must be re-created manually? The lights are one of the main things that interest me with that set, but I can't imagine having to manually add in all those 20 or so tiny lights when the PA had already created them... Why wouldn't they be included? If all those tiny lights don't come with it, it's definitely coming out of my wishlist!

I tried loading the Designer Bedroom into a new scene. When it loaded, I was inside the room. I was dark, but I could see somewhat. I tried adding a spotlight and that helped. The scene list does not show any lights, but when you render, the little lights around the room do glow. I assume they are emissive, but they must be hidden.

The readme didn't really say anything about using the product.

yeah, it didn't mention the lights on the product page or in the readme thnat I saw, so I assumed they were not included.
