Saving LIE presets

Hi all,

I'm having a lot of fun with the LIE to create "decals" to use on my figures. Is there any way of saving these so I can use them as a one click LIE solution later on, maybe on top of another base texture? Usualy I'm combining three layers of blends so it's a lot of work to manually recreate them each time...

Thanks a lot,

Me

You should be able to save it as File>Save As>Layered Image(s) Preset ...

That should save the layers as a .duf for adding to whatever skin you want.

It does not save the skin.  For that, you would also need to save as a Materials preset.

  • Thank you !!!

This product called LIE Baker does this as well only its saves it in a way that makes loading the textures faster than when saving as a materials preset.  i have this but haven't had time to try it (like so many other super useful items I have and haven't had time to explore lol)

Thanks for this Ice Dragon Art, it's something I've wanted to explore more but haven't got around to it yet..LIE Baker certainly looks like a great help.

Yes it does which is why I got it too lol,  There is a good pdf that comes with to explain how to use it as well.

A PDF...thank you, thank you...always hate it when I purchase something and the read-me consists of a file list and sketchy directions so I'm sent on a hunt to work out how things work ;)

Yes I am always grateful for good directions lol! There is something to be said for figuring it out yourself but sometimes, you just want to know what to do right off the bat lol!

Using LIE Presets will also save a temporary file of the base map with the preset added.  Once you use it go to the surfaces and on the map that you used the LIE preset on, click on the map itself and it should have a label independant of the original.  Say...you have a face map labeled Face_1.jpg.  The LIE Preset map would be Face_1 with no .jpg after the naming convention.  If you select Browse as if you were going to change it out, you'll be directed to the folder where the LIE map is now located.  Copy it, and transfer it to you character folder.  Viola.  Insta map.

  • Is there no way to save a LIE preset that includes settings for say Normal or Metallic maps? (Or any of the main material nodes?)

What do you mean? I just tried applying a layer to Metallic Flakes colour, saved a Layered Image Preset, chnaged the base map, and applied the preset - which gave me the layer I had added previously.
