Batch rendering using reality

Hi all,

I was wondering, can it be done to use the reality plugin for batch rendering? Is there any batch render app for DS that allows reality (or lux render) as the render engine?

If so, how do Iray materials do in Luxrender? Do they look okay?

Thanks a lot,

Me

  • Considering that lux will not stop rendering until manually stopped, no there is no way to batch render with lux.

Reality and luxus (the other lux plugin for DS & Carrara) were developed before Iray was added to DS and they do not understand anything about Iray materials.

  • Ok! Thanks for the reply!

    I'll stick with Iray then!

Not true, batch rendering is built right into lux.

You can set the render to end in lux based on several factors, under the queue tab in luxrender itself. I batch render with lux all the time.

Reality can also read iray textures, but they will likely require adjustment.

...the other advantage is Lux renders outside of the Daz programme meaning you cna close down the scene once it is sent to Lux and work on a new one or shut down the Daz programme as well to save memory.

Iray requires you keep both the scene and Daz programme open which wastes valuable system resources for rendering. This is why so many of my Iray render jobs end up in swap mode as I only have 10.7 GB of available system memory and am stuck in the CPU rendering slow lane.
