Daz Originals Discount for Elijah and Genevieve HD Add-Ons

Anyone know the total discount you should get for buying both Elijah 7 HD and Genevieve 7 HD add-ons if you have Platinum Membership?
I thought it would be the two "Unbelievably Hot" discounts (30% + 20%) and PC+ discount for Daz originals (30%) = Total discount of 80%
But when I add them both to my cart they are coming up as only 61% total discount.
I've only just installed the plug-in that shows the discount amounts in the cart so I've never really noticed the final rates before and always just assumed they were correct, so maybe the discounts don't work the way I think they do?!

I'm a pc member too never can work these prices out myself but it's showing $15.66 foe Elijah and $15.67 for Genevieve. Btw if you buy two items you can get Infernium for $2.57 that's further down the page
Yeah it's showing $15.66 for Elijah and $15.67 for Genevieve for me too. That's a 61% discount on each.
But an 80% discount would bring them to $7.99 each which is a lot more affordable after the spending during March Madness.
DAZ discounts takes some getting used to to understand, as they don't stack like simple addition. You don't add them all and then take it off the price. If we did, we would get payed for buying some things with discounts ending up over 100%!
You first take one discount off the base price, then you take the second discount off the new discounted price, and so on. 61% seems like a likely discount when adding them all that way.
That's not how discounts work.
You apply the first discount on the full price, then the 2nd on the discounted price, then the next discount on the remainder, and so on.
In this case DO discount is 30%, so price 1 = 70% of full price.
30% "Unbelievably Hot" discount applies on price 1 so price 2 = 70% of price 1 = (0.7*full price)*0.7 = 0.49 * full price, so 51% overall discount from the full price.
20% additional discount gives you price 3 = 80% of reduced price 2 = ((full price * 0.7) * 0.7) * 0.8 = full price * 0.392 so overall discount is 60.8%
30% off 30% off 20% is the same as paying 0.7 * 0.7 * 0.8 of thje base price, which is 0.392 of the base price, 61% off.
my math no good I rely on you guys btw both are the same price and same discount so how come one is 1c dearer after discounts notice this before happens on other products that are the same price with same discounts but often there is at least one that costs 1c more not biggee just wondering
That's a good question, as doing the math gets a result of $15.6604... Usually you see the discrepency when rounding the extra decimal digits would cause the cents to go up 1.
Funny, I was just at a store and saw a discount bin with product (toner cartridges) marked 20% off and there was a sign that read additional 30% off. I stood there for a second trying to figure out the math since I have become so used to DAZ math and a customer service rep came over and asked if he could help. I told him I was trying to figure out the total off and he looked at me kinda odd and said 50% off, 20 plus 30, boy did I feel like an idiot, LOL.
Reminds me of that tv show, extreme couponing. Folks would pay dollars (some would even get cash back) for hundreds worth of goods.
The good thing about 'Daz Math' is that since it's multiplicative, it can never drop to 0% or below. If they used the 'additive' method, all it would take is one store glitch (which as we all know happen), someone gets a 101% discount and spends thousands of dollars, essentially having Daz pay the customer for the item.
Also, I'm sure this type of multiplicative discounting isn't unique to Daz (tho it is kinda fun to call it Daz math).

Yep, I've seen both types of sales in brick and mortar retail. What's even stranger are the sales where you have to pay sales tax on the regular price after the product is discounted....some sort of deal with local municipality or a way to get back some of the discount...not really sure.
seems everywhere you go everyone has their own math system for discounts and pricing. Ah yeah there have been some huge glitches in the % off sales here at times at least once during Rawart's birthday sale all his stuff was listed at insane discount prices practicly giving them away and no I didn't take advantage of that glitch I bought what I bought at corrected prices maybe an idiot there not taking advantage of it would have been able to buy everything in his store think was well under $100 have a fair bit of his stuff but still a lot don't/didn't have
and like FSMCDesigns came across in a lot of our stores too you see 20%+additional 30% = 50% a lot of times though on some occassions it is 30% off the end price of the 20% but most times it's 50% gets very confusing at times shopping locally or online hence the common term used here daz math
