Problem with Aspen for Gia and gia morph not saving
in The Commons
Has anyone else had a problem with the Aspen morph being stripped out when they save a file, exit daz, and come back in? If so is there a solution? I'm about to scrap about a month worth of work because of this. I'd created a 'race' which used the Aspen morph as well as several others in hopes of using this for several years. It's just for book covers for myself but I spent a massive amount of time figuring out how to move the morphs over to the male. I have not even looked to see if the male one is working yet but I do know I can save the original figure that I created under a new name, close daz, and reopen it and the Aspen morphs are gone.

Ive never had this problem with Aspen (or any other morph) before. How are you saving? I tested both the Aspen character and shape. No issues. The only thing I can really think of is that maybe your morphs are installed wrong? Whatever you do, dont delete your work yet.
I saved it both as scene and as subscene. Neither of them holds the morph. But I tested gia before I went to bed and it is also not saving the morph. This is how I tested. I opened daz. Loaded gia from the smart menu. Saved as scene 'testing gia' without moving or touching her. Closed daz. Clicked on the duff 'testing gia' to open it. Clicked save again without touching it. Closed daz. Clicked on 'testing gia' again and the morphs were gone. It still had the skin on it but was the standard genesis 2 body. Same thing happens with Aspen.
Love that render btw. You have the lighting down!
Im no expert by any means, but if I were to wager a guess, id say that Gia is not installed correctly, re-install. How are you installing? DIM, Connect?
Thanks, lol... it was a lucky shot that didnt need a ton of meddling with.
I uninstalled it with DIM and downloaded and installed it again and it still does not work. EDIT: And then I got all angry at tech support and just now got a note from them with a possible work around to save the figure. I'm crossing my fingers and regretting getting so angry.
Need to say I did not blast tech support. I figured they were busy. I just sat here and stewed. So don't blast them. I don't think that would be helpful. lol
So its possible that the package may be incomplete for DIM(?). I still install everything manually, maybe try that?
So far they have not been able to replicate the issue. I sent them more info. I did not try to manually install yet. That will be my next step.
So? Whats happening!? The suspence is killing me....
Sorry. Weekend was super busy. They sent me a walk around that I tried but it did not work. I did find the video very interesting and educational though. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Srsy-iDzQw
The primary benefit is that it got me thinking of other ways to tackle the problem. So I started browsing youtube and google and found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMYB2MDh6CQ
And this page. http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/packaging/tutorials/saving_morphs/start
So they did help me solve the problem, even if only temporarily. In the mean time I sent them a duf and they are going to keep working on finding a permanent fix. Right now I'm just rejoicing because I'm not going to have to scrap a couple of months worth of work.
So you do have a legitimate issue then? Way to find the bug! Do they have an idea as to why its happening?
I have another pic of Aspen that I hope youll like. I made it for a product comparison. Im about to go to bed, so ill post it tomorrow.
lol It's a legit issue. Not just me being flaky. But it might be that my files got corrupted or something I recently installed is conflicting with it. The problem is I installed this a long time ago but never used her. So who knows what might be conflicting or if there is just an issue with gia. All I know is I want her. I need her. lol In the mean time I have a home made dial made for Aspen. She can disapear all she wants and I get her back with one slide of a button. Looking forward to seeing your pic of her. I love all the details in her face.
What version of daz are you on? I know that the current version has caused some issues in some products. I find a bug in Caitlin by addy that some folk werent seeing in earlier versions of daz, https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/153976/caitlin-for-genesis-3-female-s-by-addy-seam-visible-between-torso-and-leg-textures-fixed.
Here is that render of Aspen. I was demonstrating the difference in joint bends when comparing standard G2 with G2 using Beautiful Bends, https://www.daz3d.com/beautiful-bends-for-genesis-2-female-s , which, if youre not using beautiful bends with your g2f, you should. My render dosent come close to showing how well beautiful bends works. The render is nothing special but its another example of how easlily Aspen converts to iray.
4.9 pro. I had some other ones installed but was too intimidated to even try using them beyond about a half hour. Yikes on the seam showing. I hope the fixed it. That's a nice amount of difference in the bends. I have not bought beautiful bends yet. I recently read that it can conflict with genx and that would be a deal breaker for me. Guess I should see if they have fixed it. Nice render. You have her all domesticated. :) I turned her into a different species.
I solved this problem by reinstalling everything. First I renamed my daz folder and created a new daz folder so that daz would install to the paths I had set up before. Then I started with daz and the 'essential' starter figures. Then gia and aspen. At that point I checked the figure and it worked fine. Then I installed everything alphabetically, checking after each letter. Then I manually brought over the items I had from other sources (they have their own folders) and checked again. It's so nice to have her back. Unfortunatly I lost about a month worth of work as my dufs keep pointing to genx files that I had made while trying to create a base figure of my own that could be dialed up easily. Dur. I'm pretty sure I did that after the issue started with gia in an attempt to fix the problem but I had made a few male morphs before then which my female figure seems to be pointing at too so... I don't know. May have been the start of the problem or only compounded it. Anyway, thanks for the help and ideas of things to look at. I really appreciate it.
