Yes, at least for the non-DIM content.

Can I delete the files manually or will that cause issues?

Some of these files are not uninstalled yet because they are not Daz3D content, and didn't come through the Install Manager. They were classic Zip or Rar files. Is it safe to open up the zip files of both daz and non-daz providers, look were all the installed files should be and remove them from my Daz Content Directory?

Yes, I only do manual installs and this is exactly the way I uninstall content. Just double check everything before you delete it.
Do keep in mind that you only really need to remove the morphs in the 'data' folder to escape duplicate formula errors. Obviously the character presets won't work after this so you should probably remove them too but if you like the materials you can keep those presets where they are (or move them) and also keep any textures in the 'Runtime' folder in the same place so that the mats work.
Or remove the lot, it's up to you.

    Hi all,

I'm deleting the necessary stuff, however I hitting a wall:

These listings keep popping up on the log:

2017-04-01 01:01:10.723 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5996): Could not find property for animation: name://@selection#JCMPregAUBend:?value/value

The list is way longer than this, but none of these are still in my Daz Directory. What do I need to do to make DS understand not to look for these morphs anymore when loading up genesis 3?

How do I re¨nstall the genesis figure? I can't find it in my Install manager...

    Thanks a lot,

    Me

  • I'm cleaning up ever further. What do these listings mean?

    2017-04-01 12:21:10.406 *** Scene Cleared ***
2017-04-01 12:21:24.646 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(4775): Could not find modifier definition.

    2017-04-01 12:21:24.927 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(1396): Failed to create modifier: CTRLMD_N_YRotate_110!

Would reïnstalling Genesis help? If so How do I do that?

Could not find property isn't necessarily bad - it may mean that something you have has some kind of corrective link to make sure it works nicely with another product if both are installed; if not the link will fail, but since it isn't needed that doesn't matter. Having said that, I'm not sure that applies to those messages.

To reinstall content installed with DIM (or Connect) unisntall it and then reinstall

  • How Do I uninstall without DIM Manager? I installed DS using the Setup file, so the Genesis 3 figures are not listed in my DIM. Wich files do I need to delete manually in order to uninstall genesis 3?

    Thanks a lot,

    Me.

  • I keep hitting these:

2017-04-01 14:03:44.815 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(1405): Failed to create alias!
2017-04-01 14:03:44.815 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(7697): Failed to add user alias property to node.
2017-04-01 14:03:44.815 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(1405): Failed to create alias!
2017-04-01 14:04:09.001 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5996): Could not find property for animation: name://@selection#JCMPregAUBend:?value/value

As you can see, these make up for 25 seconds of loading time eventhough all related files are allready removed.... So somehow the Genesis 3 figure doesn't know it shouldn't load these anymore...

Hence the question for a clean install of the genesis figures.

Gensis 3 is not installed by the Daz Studio installer, and has never had executable installers - you must have manually placed the zipped content or used DIM or Connect.

  • Ok, can I use the starter essentials folder to determine which genesis files to delete manually?

  • Richard HaseltineRichard Haseltine Posts: 108,874

Yes, though that will of course only be the core files and not any add-ons.

I recently starting getting this issue when I load Genesis 1 figures.  I checked the log file and it is referencing a 3rd party product:

So what I am wondering, is if the Global ID could be causing this.  I have spent a lot of time editing Metadata for all of my 3rd party content so that they will show up in Smart Content.

  • I would expect that to be a bug in the product - though that would be surprising. Have you checked to see if there's an update?

Dont let the erros in the log file trick you more than twice. If you realy want to see what did happen the last time you started DazStudio please close it first - then while still showing this last log file in the NotePad or whatever editor press Alt+A to select all and the 'Delete' key to delete all text. Then save it over the original log.txt file with Alt+S. Next time you start DazStudio and load the figure into the scene the log file gets filled with the latest information on errors. With this you dont have to scroll that long list to the bottom of these timestamps.

Thanks. The solution given worked for me. I am on Daz Studio 4.12 Pro. My own custom character morphs had started giving the "duplicate formula" error and using the File-> Save As -> Support Asset -> Save modified Assets has fixed that issue. I did see a lot of vendor product also got listed when I did that. But in any case after the save modified assests, I don't get the duplicate formula error anymore.
