College Girl Dorm : Small question

Hello, would it be possible to know the approximative vram use of this set, by one of it's owners, perhaps ? The set looks great, but I would like to know if this can be used on a 4GB GPU before adding to the cart :) (about 500 textures with the props, according to the product pages, the reason why I'm worried for use with a gtx 970). Thank you in advance !

I can't give you VRAM usage as I'm not sure where DS lists it (I'm not trawling through the log at this hour) and I don't have GPU-Z currently installed. But I do have a 970 myself and found that at stock it renders with Iray in the viewport quite quickly and nicely, you can easily move around the scene as long as you're careful (although that applies to any scene). Nothing seemed stressed or overworked and starting a full render was also pretty quick but I couldn't let it finish as it's late here and we lose an hour tonight because of the daylight savings crap.
I hope that was some help or at least offers some reassurance.
I have a 4GB Nvidia card and it is NOT enough for the room with all the props and a G3F. I tried that and it went CPU only and rendered extremely slow. It's possible it might work if skipping the G3F, but what fun is a room without any person in it?
Unless you're using some sort of extreme fisheye lens, then it is likely that with this set, or any other, there is a lot of props that are off screen. These should all be hidden if possible, as then any textures they use will no longer be needed in the scene. With a bit of work most scenes can be squeezed into 4 GB of VRAM, you just have to be a bit more careful with how the resources are used.
Everything fits in a regular widescreen shot. I posted a review here , also showing the render I was trying. Doing a closer shot of the girl, I did get a render out of the scene though, not only by hiding what's not in view, but deleting it.
Thank you Lwaves and Isidorn for your feedback :) , I'm not really sure what to think as your results are different, but Lwaves, your render was with everything in the scene, but no figure, perhaps ? That would explain the difference of outcome. Btw to check memory use, I use the Afterburner app that was coming with my previous GPU, it's useful not only to tweak the fans/temp curves (mine never goes up 52° with that), AND for checking temperatures and VRAM use. I guess every brand of GPU has something similar, offered for free.
Thank you for the link to your review too, Isidorn, wouldn't have posted my thread if I had seen this before. Right now I think I'll pass on this set, but will get it later, once I've got a better GPU. Although it has an amazing of props for external use, so it's perhaps something to catch tomorrow... Still not sure :) .
Oops, wanted to edit my post, but pressed wrong button... Sorry.
Yeah, probably should have mentioned that it was without any figure but then you didn't mention adding one either, just the room and props.

Like isidorn though, it was a widescreen render that covered the full width of the room. As I said before though, I didn't let it finish as it was really late, so it may have slowed/swapped to CPU later. Most of my experience was based on the viewport Iray preview which was working well.
Sorry we haven't really cleared anything up for you.
It DID help actually ;) , even with the difference in your results. I've finally got some exterior scenes today, instead of the dorm, but this is only a matter of time before I grab this, as I know I want it :) (this is so darn cute... A must have scene, for me). I will get it after I(ve got a new GPU, with 8 or 11 Gb, hopefully in 1 or two months. Thank you again :)
