Is my computer having an issue with VRAM???

Im wondering if there is an issue with my computer and its vram. According to my video card specs, an old GTX 770, I should have 2048 MB of vram if im reading the properties correctly. The other day I purchased SimTenero's Iray Memory Assistant. Maybe im just getting a wacky reading, but the IMA lists my available vram as 1.84461 MB instantly putting my potential vram shortage at -,773.31 and IMA turns completely red. Those numbers are the result of having absolutely nothing on screen. So im wondering if there is a problem with my video card or maybe how daz is accessing the vram, I have no idea as im not especially hardware savy.

Help, please...

Are you using the card to drive your video display monitor?

Im not sure... Ill see if I can find out. Would that have a large impact on the card? If so, what should I try differently?

    I think it is.

Well, 2gb  VRAM is very limited to started with and having the card drive your video display woukld use some of it..

I have a GTX 970 with 4gb VRAM and I feel even that is pretty limited; so, I'm considering getting a GTX 1070 with 8gb VRAM.

@Anotherusernam: I swear by IMA mainly because I use it to find places I can reduce textures or lower SubD to maximise what I'm fitting in my 4gb card.

However, SimTenero has said in another thread that they realize it's sort-of broken right now and that it needs badly to be updated, but they'v had trouble getting the SDK(I think that's what he said) so that they can figure out WHAT to update to make it work properly again.

That being said, I still highly recommend the script to people all the time for what DOES still work. It's one of my 3 go-to scripts that I use on basically every render I do. (the other 2 being the free Texture Reduction script and Iray Light Manager Pro)

Thanks Brugan. I sent a message off to SimTenero to see if perhaps they had some answers. Im glad that theyre working on it... I'd replace my card... if only I could stop buying daz for a couple months to save up! wink
