Disappeared entirely, or disappeared from Smart Content and from Categories and Products in the Content Library pane?
One of the earlier comments here suggested that I uninstall Genesis 3 Female... and then re-install... which is what I did. I never checked to see if the file was in the same place. The mermaid I creaded with Genesis 3 Female still loads. I did a searcg for Genesis 3 Female, both in Smart Content and in Content Library and nothing turned up. I still have it among my Product Purchases on DAZ3D.com. I attempted to re-download it, but nothing happened.
It should be in DAZ Studio Formats>Install folder>People>Genesis 3 Female (if there are any extra folders in that path, or if it's not there at all, then something is awry).
No, by install folder I ment the name of the folder you installed to.
I feel foolish.... yes, in my folder there is a My DAZ 3D Library/People/Genesis 3 Female
And the file for loading Genesis 3 Female appears ther in the Content Library pane - DAZ Studio Formats>My Daz 3D Library>People>Genesis 3 Female?
No... I do not have a People folder. I have a Figures folder, and within that I have folders for Genesis 2, and a folder for DAZ People, but within those folders I do not have Genesis 3.
That's a Poser Formats folder, not a Daz Studio Formats folder.
You tell by the lack of a stylized 's' that Studio folders have.
The Daz Format Folder does not lead to My DAZ 3d Library... however it does lead to Studio/People/ but there is not a Genesis 3 within it. There is a Genesis, but not Genesis 3
That's your problem - the folder that contains the files for Genesis 3 Female is not known to Daz Studio. Right-click on Daz Studio Formats, select Add Base Directory, and select the My Daz 3D Library folder from your Public Documents folder.
Eureka!!!! That indeed was it! I must say, I have been using DAZ for about 11 years. I was fairly adept with the DAZ 3. Generation. Despite all the tutorials, I still feel like i am fumbling in the dark with 4.9. If not for a major, irreversible system crash of DAZ 3D 3.6, I never would have upgraded to 4.9. I had so many scenes and characters invested in 3.6, and... as you know... 4.9 is not backward compatible. I am only on 4.9 about six months.
Thank you for your help.
