...I drew both an AIko 3 and Vicky 4 character for my RRRR challenge pull. Been kind of like going down "memory lane" working with Aiko3 again. Almost forgot how much clothing, character, hair, and prop content I actually have for her. The Vicky4 character is going to be even more "fun" as I have more content for her than for AIko. Good thing I didn't draw Sadie.
Feels a bit odd though not having the autofit menu pop up when loading hair or clothing.
I use every thing I aquire. I copy and paste it to a back up drive.
SALUT !
A lot of my purchases I clearly stick in the category of "shiny new things". They simply look so nice, I'm pretty sure I will find a use for it even though I had no thoughts of project using that item or figure at all up to that point. Some items as soon as I see them, they inspire a piece at that moment, and I want to at least begin a preliminary pose that I can save. If it comes easily, those products tend to get used right away, if I find out it's not going to work quite the way I expected they get put on hold until I can get back to them.
A lot of stuff I buy for renders I want to do, but clearly don't have the skill to do, but the figure or item was cheap and I bought it for later. Having done a rough estimate of how long it takes to do renders from concept to final render, I probably have more items than I could possibly use in a lfetime at this very moment, unless 3D art were the means of my making a living and I could do it all day every day.
Hi All,
As a relatively new user of Daz3d, Dec 2016. I had no idea what it was I wanted to do. I had all the free characters with the initial install. I was able to put together quick renders etc. YouTube was a good source but most have their own ideas on what kind of lights to use, god rays, dust etc. Meaning you’ve got to get this to render. Nothing definitive and that meant spending some dough on digital assets.
I started buying before I decided that I wanted IRAY versus 3ddelight. Which it would have been nice of vendors to state that some were supported only in 3d delight with no mention of it until I start to render and things don’t look quite right. I also made purchases then realized all those cool clothing items that were used needed to be purchased as well. Can cause unexpected purchases with a new product. But, have jumped in and I'm making headway.
To gain ideas on what people were rendering I review and continue to do so the galleries. A lot don’t render with shoes and not many don’t do extreme close-ups of things like hands or feet. So, with that in mind do you really need the “nails” or some shoes or earrings?
I've been actually writing something up about my trials and tribulations on selecting etc. Will put out on blog josephkravis.com
Sorry just some thoughts on how to make use and keep the pocket book from emptying too fast.
I’m at point of buying value added items. Single items that have other items that I can use in renders.
I’ve cataloged things for what I wanted.
Pumps, Open Toe, Closed toe. Flats, tennis shoes etc. Now with shaders and textures, I can use 1 pair of shoes over and over
I’ve organized my libraries into items for Renderosity and ShareCG as the primary items and include those in my searches.
There isn’t a universal meta data function and guidelines for the varying sites, daz, renderosity, sharesg, then unreal, unity, blender etc.
Several things came to mind. (I'm still doing just stills and put together items as if I were doing a photoshoot)
1. What do I need to create scenes
d. I have full frame and crop frame cameras so have been applying setting ideas to renders
2. What do I need to create sets lots of ideas.
Some vendor’s characters all look the same with slight variations and on occasion look like other vendor items too. After all there is a base (genesis 3) if using that . Not enough for me to warrant a purchase. From my looking there are 5 vendors that I purchased characters from because they were definitely different looking.
And for a guy, a bra is a bra. :-) So, with some shaders etc can make clothing go a long way.
Joseph
When I die, I imagine my grave stone will have the following epitaph:
Dearly Departed Daz Hoarder ... may her ideas fruitate in heaven.
You mean you CAN take it with you? I'd better up my purchases. I probably couldn't use it all before I died, but eternity is a long time, even using Iray CPU only.
