  • This issue is either not fixed, or there was a second issue with this product. Attaching an example.

I've deleted the product and then re-installed from the Daz DIM installer but still no luck.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • Attached is a quick render to showcase the issue, on the upper thigh, there is a clear seam visible when you bend the Caitlin for genesis 3 character. I read another discussion that indicated this was fixed, however, I've deleted and re-downloaded the product and still have this problem.

    Merged threads.

A seam is usually a sharp line - I am not seeing that in your image.

It might be worth checking the texture map. I don't have this character to check but some vendors used to add a shadow to the texture map which helped to create a crease and enhance the buttocks when the character was stood up. Have to say I can't see it on the promo showing the back but it might be worth checking.

It mostly stopped being done for exactly this reason, it looked bad in anything but a standing pose.

It is an issue with the texture map; I edited the torso (attaching original + modified) but it's a little frustrating to find out you can only use a model in a standing pose without everything looking like they had a skin graft. The original torso you can easily see the dark lines, which then when stretched, create the look in the render - the edited one looks better but not 100% flawless.

Also was surprising to me that since I have purchased two models from the creator, the texture files were made very differently for each (Pepper is the other one I purchased, and no weird issues when bending her).

It's not so much shadow as how texture resources from real photos can have natural variations due to various reasons, but including sun and ageing/wear and tear. You'll notice around the chest area, which is normally hidden by the breast shape.

Incidentally, I wouldn't post full size resources, and especially without covering the genital/breast areas.

Yes, actually my apologies to Addy. My wording was not the best, it is not a case of the vendor adding the shadow but that a lot of times they are in the resource photos used to create the character as nicstt said above. How much editing is done of those resource photos is down the the vendor at creation time.

At least you have identified and solved what was troubling you, which is progress :)

  • From my past experience with stuff like this(and it happens often since I frequently swap out skin textures) and the way the seam appears in the render, I would say the textures do not agree with the UV map. I'm surprised you don't have seams between the arms & torso textures also.

I guess they should start mentioning which UV maps the character textures require.
